We turned up for this Saturday's tour. We were staying nearby at Hidden Ponds so were really keen to get on the whale trip which runs less frequency at end of season.
However, I think that was to our favour! Firstly the boat had about 40 people on it so we could sit anyway and there was lots of room to move around either by sitting inside by the little area they serve coffee, drinks and snacks from or outer deck.
We had done our homework for being prepared so had taken seasick tablets beforehand and came prepared with warm windbreakers, camera and sun block. It was mainly calm and 73 degrees when we left port. However, as we got further out as expect with the wind and speed we were soon wrapped up head to toe and enjoying sitting at the front of the boat. I avoided the back as I didn't want the major rocking part!
The crew were fantastic - they were interactive (let's say there were some "whale" noises), friendly and the captain worked incredibly hard to find whales. We were lucky we saw whales, more whales, and then on route back another whale! We had to go pretty far out to get the sightings but it was amazing to witness. Our journey took around 5 hours so for the 45 bucks they charge this is pretty good value when you take into account time, fuel, boat, crew etc.
Great trip, well recommended!
