“Wondeful, Warm, Friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2013

From our welcome to our good-bye it was a wonderful stay. Our first family vacation (my wife, our daughter and myself) in five years was well needed and we made the perfect choice. The owners and staff were as warm and friendly like our own family. The breakfast was a 3 course delight with many choices all made to order. Breakfast was in a room with large glass windows overlooking a lake. There are outside table to sit in for a cozy take out lunch or dinner from Mables just in front of Inn.
Cannot thank these folks for the relaxing stay enough! Our child uses a wheel chair and the side door ramp was a breeze getting in and out of our room on first floor. The room had plenty of room for our child to move around in. Room was spotless and cleaned everday. Small beach is just across Inn and short walking distance. Plenty of parking right in front of Inn.
Short walk or drive back into downtown Kennebunkport. Inn is just far enough away from all that hechtic shopping.
I hope anyone who stays enjoys this beautiful olace as we did.Cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: Our room #42 was very quite.

My wife and I stayed at the Edgewater Inn at the end of July. As we had booked only from the information on the Internet we were a little bit anxious, wondering if we had made a good selection. We absolutely had ! The Edgewater was FANTASTIC. The location is ideal, close enough to walk to restaurants, galleries, etc, but also secluded enough to ensure a very peaceful sleep or glass of wine on our balcony! The renovated Inn offers rooms that could adorn any decorating magazines. The look and ambiance is sophisticated yet relaxed. The Inn is also sparkling clean!! We were made to feel very welcome by the owner, Caroline, and her fantastic staff. If all of that wasn't enough, we soon found out that we had also landed in epicurian heaven!! The breakfasts we enjoyed at the Edgewater Inn were among the best we have ever had, anywhere, anytime ! We plan on returning next summer !

This beautiful, charming inn is close enough to the main boutique area of the town, but within walking distance- just far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle and parking issues. We never heard any traffic or shouting while trying to sleep, it was completely quiet and peaceful. The linens on the bed, as well as the towels, were luxurious. The room itself is gorgeous, from the colours of the paint, to the lamps, to the inviting vibe at the front door! The breakfast was truly befond compare! This chef knows how to impress! There are many teak lounging chairs (with blankets folded on top!) to sit and enjoy and view. I would love to come back here every year!

We were very happy to be upgraded to the cottage as we brought our golden retriever with us(although the rooms in the inn looked gorgeous!). The cottage was very clean and beautifully decorated. An incredible 3 course breakfast is included. The staff and owner were very helpful!!

The Edgewater Inn is exactly what I hoped it would be: charming, quaint, and centrally located. The Inn is beautiful with lovely decor and local artwork. The staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful. Despite many other guests we felt like we were the only ones staying at the Inn.

They really think of every little detail down to blankets on the chairs outside which get scorching hot in the blazing sun.

The breakfast (included) was offered from 7-12 (unheard of at a B&B to have breakfast so late!) and was delicious. Fresh ingredients from local farms with additional touches of fresh fruit, grilled honey corn cakes, yogurt and granola, and mini-quiches. I was particularly impressed when my omelet included a variety of mushrooms, not just the typical button mushrooms.

The Inn is centrally located. It's a short walk into town and an equally short walk to the beach.

We stayed there for 5 nights this past month. This inn is great! Comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff, exceptional breakfast. This was our first trip to Maine and we had such a wonderful experience that we booked again for next year. That will give us another opportunity to try more selections from the breakfast menu. I have read some of the other recent reviews and I agree with all of their favorable comments. I definitely recommend this inn .

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Edgewater Inn, formerly known as The Green Heron Inn one of Kennebunkport's historic Inns, is located on Ocean Avenue, in one of the town's most charming neighborhoods. It sits adjacent to an estuarine cove, near the mouth of the Kennebunk river and just around the bend from President George Bush's vacation home on Walkers Point. Overnight stays include a 3-course breakfast, prepared by Chef Jason Grant in the "on the edge" restaurant from eight to noon. The Inn was built in the early 1900's as a boarding house that provided shelter and breakfast for weary travelers. Twelve guest rooms including a cove side cottage, thirty-two seat restaurant. Its location, which combines the beautiful surrounding of the Kennebunk River and the convenience of its proximity to all major Kennebunkport attractions, contributed to its popularity from its early days. That tradition continues today. While relaxation at The Edgewater Inn is an art in itself, activities abound in the surrounding area. Guests enjoy rejuvenating walks along the rocky shore, enjoy the sun on the sandy beach, explore the numerous galleries and shops in Dock Square, watch the wildlife and the birds as they gather near the water next to the inn, or spend a sunny day on one of the nearby golf courses. ... more   less
