Hello Werner:
Thanks so much for your very kind review! We have had lots of visitors from Europe this year and it is so much fun to hear all about their travels.
The views really are lovely and it certainly is relaxing to watch the boats glide up and down the beautiful river that runs right in front of the hotel.
Thanks again for taking the time to write a review! We hope to see you again soon!

My wife and I reserved a room several months before our visit. The resort emailed us back with helpful tips and things to do during out visit. Our first impression of the hotel was not all that great. We were greeted by a nice lady sitting at a computer desk as we walked in. She asked if she could help us and directed us to the front desk for check in. A young man greeted us after a couple minutes and asked if we were checking in? After letting him know we were he took out information and gave us our room number, which was in the main building and located on the third floor... No problems until we found out it was a walk up three flights of stairs. The stairs were very narrow and difficult to navigate. There was an elevator that was a hand crank and could be operated by staff only. We were not happy but we were told we would be very happy with the room. Ocean view and very comfy according to the young man at the front desk who reminded me of a high school teen trying to memorize his lines from his first day yesterday.
Skip past my struggle up the stairway and avoiding the cleaning staff to squeeze past and we end up in a room that had a parking lot view and was leaning towards the ocean that we couldn't see, but were sure we would be in if the building tilted anymore than it already was.
Cathy from the front desk had called and asked if everything was okay..... I told her I was unhappy with the room. She apologized and called me back within a fee minutes to offer an upgrade into the other building on the grounds. I gladly accepted and found the upgraded room to be much more acceptable.

Overall We were happy with the service and loved the complimentary breakfast. We were satisfied with the room upgrade.

Hello Robert:
I am very pleased and proud to hear that we initiated a call to check as to whether you liked your room, and when the answer was negative, we took action and fixed the issue. We have two very different types of rooms here - the Inn (where rooms have kind of a traditional bed and breakfast décor) and Portside (where rooms are more like a modern hotel and all rooms have water views) We have guests who love the Inn, and just as many who are crazy about Portside. The good news is that we have something for everyone!
Please come back and see us again soon!
Sincerely,
Jean Ginn Marvin

This was our second time at the resort and it was as enjoyable as the first time. Although parking sometimes can be a challenge the staff was there to assist to ensure that you found a spot to park. The staff was always friendly and helpful and made you feel at home. The grounds are very nice, and it is right on the river with a view up into the ocean. They also have lobster boat tour, fishing boat, and sailing tour that leave from the property which is very convenient. Although not in the heart of Kennebunkport retail district it is within walking distance (less than a mile).
One recommendation would be that they should consider adding exercise facilities although the walk/run/cycle around the resort is very nice.

Room Tip: We like the rooms with a balcony.

Welcome back!
It's great to hear that your second visit with us was as nice as the first. The boats have certainly been busy this summer! It is so nice to take a cruise to see Kennebunkport from a different point of view. While we prefer to use nature as our gym, we do have an agreement with The Breakwater, which is just a quick walk down the road. Our guests can purchase $10 day passes to use their exercise facility. We hope to see you back for your next anniversary celebration!
All the best,

Just returned home yesterday. Our family had a great time. Our room was great - spacious, clean and decorated in a nautical theme. The food was excellent, especially the breakfast buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Barbara and her staff from activities were also wonderful as we went kayaking for the first time, and found them to be very helpful. We enjoyed marsmallows by the fire at night, and of course with three kids we used the pool often. We plan on returning next year as there were lots of things to do, and we found reasonally priced places to eat in town as well.

Room Tip: This resort has at least ten different configurations for rooms making it easy for us to get a room...

Hello J.Y.
Thanks for coming! We love having families join us, so we make sure there is plenty of room for them as well as lots of activities so that you never have to leave property! That's very exciting that you chose us to guide you through your first kayaking experience. We do have a guided kayak tour that perhaps you'd be interested in doing on your next visit. Your guide will take you along the river and point out landmarks while providing you with insider tips on Kennebunkport. We can't wait to have you back!

Great resort with lots to do for families. Room was charming and quirky, the floor ran at a funny angle! Room was clean, comfortable, modern and had been designed by local school kids, very tastefully! There was free breakfast but each morning it seemed to be an inconvenience that we were a couple and not a family. Although there were several free tables visible set out for four we were asked to wait until a small table for two was available, not a serious issue but a bit odd! Overall, a pleasant stay.

Hi there,
I am glad you enjoyed your room! Each year a middle school class is given a grant and a room to makeover using as many eco-friendly and locally made products as they can. It has resulted in some beautiful rooms while reducing our carbon footprint! I am sorry you had to wait for breakfast; it is open to the public, so the open tables may have been reserved. We hope you'll join us again if you should ever find yourself back our way.
Best,

Overall I was very satisfied with the Nonantum resort. Their breakfast was exceptional (although you typically will have to pay extra for it) only to be surpassed by the food in hotel's restaurant (dinner). Some other positives included old colonial charm, very hospitable staff, great view of the water from the room. Although Charming I did not love the old fashion elevator - a staff member had to be available for it to be operated. I also thought they went a little cheap during their last renovation - was not overly excited to see linoleum all over the bathroom, and the tub and fixtures were in need of some TLC and or updating (I did stay in the older section of the resort, so maybe the other units are nicer).

Room Tip: opt for the breakfast - its worth it!

Hello Mr Logistics:
I really appreciate your nice write up! I am glad you had such a nice time here!
Just to clarify about breakfast - if you book directly with the Nonantum, (on line, in person or on the phone) not only do you get the lowest price, (since we do not have to pay a commission to a third party booker, you get a better deal and probably a better room!) but you also get FREE breakfast! For a logistics guy like you, I am sure this sounds good!
So we will look forward to seeing you here again soon!
