“Setting the Standard for B&Bs”
Reviewed 6 January 2011

My husband and I first visited the Captain Lord Mansion in 1985. We have returned every year since. Our experience there set the bar very high in what our expectations are from B&Bs. We have stayed at several nice properties in New England, but the CLM is still at the top of our list. You will be impressed by the inn's cleanliness. The inn staff make sure it is immaculately kept, inside and out. From the elegantly appointed and cozy public areas, to the warm, hospitable breakfast areas in the kitchen and gathering room, to the beautifully furnished and decorated guestrooms, this should be your go-to place for a break from your reality. Breakfasts are bountiful and creative - the sticky buns to die for. Antiques abound in the public areas. Guest rooms are beautifully and whimsically decorated, and are also furnished with antique pieces and with what could be THE MOST comfortable beds ever. LED tvs and CD players with a selection of calming CDs add a nice touch, and gas fireplaces in all the rooms add to the romantic atmosphere. Bathrooms have either whirlpool tubs, slipper-shaped soaking tubs, or large multi-jet showers, and many bathrooms have heated floors - a welcome amenity during chilly winter visits around Christmas Prelude time. The inn staff is friendly and cheerful, and always helpful with advice about things to do or making your dinner reservations at the many fine restaurants in the Wells/Kennebunkport area during busy times of the year. The owners of the inn set the tone - they are dedicated to making your stay at their inn nothing less that delightful and to making their inn the best. In our book, they have succeeded.

“Captain Lord Mansion”
Reviewed 3 December 2010

We stayed in the Captain Suite for our Honeymoon and loved the room and all it's features including the jacuzzi and 10 jet shower. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The inn has been well taken care of and is very clean. The hospitality of the inn keepers and staff was great. It was close to all the shops and restaurants downtown and George Bush's house and all the other beautiful dream houses. We would refer it to any body and will be going back. It was also nice to talk to some very nice people during the breakfast that is served.

“Wonderful Weekend”

Would have to say, CLM was the best B&B we've ever stayed at! Staff was amazing-ideas on things to do, see, and where to eat.
Breakfast was always nothing but the best. One thing for sure---don't be late.
The room we stayed in was the Champion Room---it was amazing, nice, heated tile in the bathroom, his and her sinks, jacuzzi tub-romantic, cozy and very warm.
Bedroom was well lit and had a very nice propane heated fireplace.

“My favorite place in Maine”
Reviewed 11 October 2010

We just returned from our first trip to Maine. The Captain Jefferds Inn was beautiful and the breakfasts were outstanding. Kennebunkport offers many restaurants and has something for everyone. Also, it's a shoppers heaven! We will be returning there next year.

“Great place to stay in Kennebunkport”
Reviewed 7 October 2010

The Captain Lord Manor is perfect. The friendly, helpful staff make you feel like you are visiting old friends! We stayed in the beautiful Lois room. No detail was overlooked. Breakfasts were scrumptious. There were always homemade treats in the kitchen as well as coffee, tea, water, anything you could want. Holly makes the best brownies in the world! The grounds are beautifully landscaped and tended. We rocked in the swing before bed one night. How romantic and relaxing. The ladies at the front desk are a joy. You must climb up to the cupola to take in the view. Absolutely everything about Captain Lord is perfect. We will definitely stay here if we are in Kennebunkport!
