Simones' is a landmark eatery in Lewiston, Maine. I have been eating here since I was a kid. Now that I live in North Carolina, it is a "must stop" when I'm in Maine for vacation.
Simones' Hot Dog Stand has been a fixture on Chestnut Street since it was founded by a Greek immigrant family in 1908. It is still a family run operation where customers quickly become friends. Simones' has become a requisite campaign stop for the state and nation's most prominent politicians when visiting Lewiston.
Grab a stool at the bar and enjoy some of the best "Maine snapper" hotdogs around. Look around and you may chat up a local businessman, a police officer, the local street person or the mayor. Everyone is equal when dining at Simones'
The dogs and buns are freshly steamed and "all the way" means onions, mustard and relish. They snap when you bite them and have taste you just can't find outside of Maine.
The burgers, fries, lobster rolls are all pretty good but, hotdogs are what made them famous.
Be sure to stop in when you're in Lewiston and say hello to Jimmy and the gang.
