We stayed here July 11, 12 & 13 & wish we could have stayed longer. The hosts were very friendly & hospitable. They made sure we had everything we needed. The grounds are gorgeous and the breakfasts were delicious! The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We definitely will stay at Mount Battie again!

Room Tip: Any room is nice -

This motel is very dated but clean. The furnishings are very old and very worn--upholstered chairs are stained, wood trim worn, TV cabinets from the 80's, old TVs--no flat screens. The bathrooms are very small--in some of the rooms, the bathroom sink is not in the bath, but out in a corner of the room. The owners work very hard to make it work--they are very present and watchful, but they cheap out on so many things. Towels are very thin, they provide the smallest bar of soap I've ever seen. They have a sign in the bathroom asking women to use a worn, colored face cloth for make up removal instead of the other face cloths--grossly insulting. Their website says "chocolates in room on arrival"--you get 2 Hershey kisses! That made us laugh. The grounds are beautiful--lots of well tended flowers and gardens with a gazebo and adirondack chairs nicely placed to enjoy the flowers and view. The location is close to Camden State Park which has great walking trails and places for a picnic. The breakfast is very heavy on sweet pastries that the owner makes--kudos to her, but there are too many cakes and muffins. Would be nice to offer some fruit and yogurt. All in all-an interesting experience, but probably won't return.

Mt. Battie Motel has lovely views and is very well tended. The breakfast is quite nice--especially when there are brownies! :) We stayed in the suite, which worked nicely for us in terms of space and a place to hang out. Maine is pricey, and this wasn't cheap, but it did work out well for our purposes.

We stayed two nights here not too long ago. The good--the breakfast, with the home-baked goods, was delicious and it was peaceful sitting on the front deck on a beautiful morning. The view was nice and far enough back from the road so we weren't disturbed.

The not-so-good--a musty odor in the room, the practically non-existent water pressure in the shower. At times, there was literally a trickle coming out of the shower head. When I mentioned this to Ed the owner, eh The toilet looked as though it hadn't been given a thorough cleaning. And the bed was one of the hardest I've ever slept on. I realize that's a matter of personal preference but this was beyond firm.

Also, Christine is very nice but, as a few others have pointed out, can be a bit overwhelming.

I don't think we'll be staying here again.

The rooms were very clean, there is plenty of attention to detail. It has both a motel feel (rooms are separate and outside accessible) but with the hospitality of a Bed and Breakfast. Ed and Christine are the most welcoming and helpful hosts you will ever meet. You feel like you are a guest at their house but with all the freedom of a motel guest. Christine helped my wife and son celebrate their birthday and they both go out of their way to make your stay more enjoyable. There are freshly baked goods for breakfast and especially during the weekends there was so much to choose from. Breakfast is very nice. There is no pool but there is plenty of outside seating and plenty of stuff to do in the area, especially if you like the outdoors. It is very close to Camden which is a charming little city. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The family suite is good for families with 3 or 4 kids.
