My husband found this inn on Bookings.com. We were surprised to see the parking lot empty, but pleasantly surprised to find an attractive lobby, an attractive bar area with a large fieldstone hearth and a dining room. We reserved 2 rooms for one night (most inns and hotels in resort areas usually require a two night weekend stay). The inn has a number of rooms, but there were only a few that were occupied. The rooms were large, extremely clean and included a small refrigerator and microwave. The decor, though a bit dated, was pleasant and the queen bed was comfortable. We learned that the hotel had been recently reopened after being renovated which may explain why it was not more fully occupied. A continental breakfast was included in the reasonable price, with unlimited, good coffee served at the table. I think this Inn could become a success, and the bar could be an attraction in the area if it was marketed properly. We and our son & daughter in law were very happy with our stay and wish the owners much success.

The hotel is conveniently located just North of Camden in a quiet setting that sets back from the road. The rooms are very clean and comfortable although not luxurious and offer a value for travelers. As mentioned in some other reviews here the Inn Keeper and her assistant (Fran and Chris) are very personable and attentive (they make this place special). The pool is very nice and there is a Jacuzzi tub next to it. A complimentary continental breakfast is offered. I recommend staying here for those who are not looking for a luxurious hotel chain, but satisfied with clean, comfortable, basic amenities and the charm of a locally managed facility.

The hotel was probably the cleanest place. I ever stayed . Fran and Chrissy tried to be very accomodating. Lovely grounds. Fran and Chrissy were lovely. Great retreat area. There was a pool and a hot tub. Unable to use due to the weather.

No phones in the room, no hairdryers, peeling wallpaper, no cell phone reception, lights off in the hallways trying to get to your room in the evening, the main office doors locked at 7:00 AM on the day you want to check out. Not what was expected. The room itself wasn't bad - neat and clean, basic amenities.

We stayed here for two nights in May. The Inn was very well kept and decorated. Not a speck of dust or cobweb to be seen. Our hostess Fran was very pleasant and co-operative. The next time we are in the area we will definitely be staying at the Black Horse Inn.
