“Quaint Little Cottage”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

We stayed in cottage #4 for two nights. A very basic cottage at a good price. Everything was clean, and had a view of the ocean from the deck. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot. Manager was very nice.

Though the cottages are a little "rough", the premises were clean and adequate for an enjoyable get away. Pool was very clean and water was warm enough for me to swim! (this is saying a lot!) The proximity to Lincolnville, Belfast and Camden makes this a great choice for those enjoying day trips!

The cottages are cute from the outside, and have a really nice curb appeal. The single room cottage we rented was clean, and did have it's own deck off the back, even though there was no view of anything but a meadow. There is no view of the water, and also no access to it.The bed was a horrible thing, like a $10 mattress from a yard sale, it creaked and you could feel the edge springs, I did not sleep well at all. It's right next to the highway and not insulated at all, so you can hear the traffic all night long. There is no air conditioning, so I couldn't even turn that on to help drown out the noise.

Our cabin at Abbington's was clean and adorable, with little window boxes and a private deck. The sparkling clean swimming pool was worth the room rate alone (better than any in the area!) and the view of Penobscot Bay was amazing! The location couldn't have better- close to the beach in Lincolnville & easy drive to Camden for dinner. Plus, the owner, Greg, gave us great suggestions for meals & activities, and informed us about special events going on during our stay.

Thin pillows (2), rough towels, tiny shower, no AC, no fridge, no microwave, no ice. Worst of all, NO COFFEE without having to drive into town, which precluded enjoying early morning on the deck. No checkout - just a key drop - so no receipt, either. My credit card was charged when I made my reservation, so, no cancellation.
I only needed a place for one night, and, as noted by others, it was adequate. I didn't price other area motels, but think that for a few dollars more I could have gotten a 100% better room with modern comforts.
A tip on the hot water: run the sink hot water full blast until it gets hot before turning on the shower. Otherwise, turn the shower on, go for coffee, and it might be hot by the time you get back!

We are sorry that this reviewer was somewhat less than satisfied with their stay. Although we admit that much of the review is fair, we must say that we had accommodations available that had all the amenities this reviewer wanted for just a bit more. (Our rooms and features are pictured and described on our website as is the cancellation policy.) Features of the rooms and deposit procedure were reviewed during the reservation phone conversation. Costs and charges are reviewed during the check-in process. Receipts are available if the customer wants them. Since all is taken care of at check-in, there is no check-out. Guests can simply drop their key in a key drop when they leave.

This reviewer selected our least expensive unit which we believe is the lowest price accommodation available in the area. We are proud to offer these low prices so that travelers on a fixed budget can enjoy our beautiful area while getting clean basic accommodations. Please note that we offer water views, a water view pool and convenient rural location that aren't available at many other local properties at twice the price.

For the money, this place is perfectly adequate. You'll be hard pressed to find anything in the surrounding area to get a waterview room under $100/night. Great views of the Penobscot Bay! The manager, Greg, was super nice and helpful. They have individual cottages which are quaint - it's not luxurious, but it's clean, affordable, has a swimming pool, and a very good location. Stayed there in the summer of '011 and am going back in July.

Room Tip: Pick a waterview room with your own deck. Watch the changing light on Pen Bay. Great moonrises!

The motel has separate cabins, probably 15 total. We occupied the only 2 bedroom cabin. One room had two twin beds and the entry to the bathroom. The other room had a queen bed. The motel is well located and convenient to restaurants.
The rooms smelled of mildew but turning on the heater helped the smell. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was a bit primitive but all in all the place was adequate for $100.
