“Victorian by the Sea”

We have been staying at this B&B for 5 out of the 6 years we have been vacationing in Maine.
Jean and Rob are great hosts. We enjoy the quiet surrounding, view of the ocean the first thing in the morning. But the best is their scrumptious BREAKFASTS!
We will be back next year for sure.

My family and I booked two rooms for our recent stay - the kids shared the Harbor Room on the first floor and my husband and stayed in the Victorian Suite. We enjoyed the house so much - quiet, comfortable, and with a great view down to the water. The breakfasts were amazing (yogurt/granola/ berries and waffles with homemade sausage on the first day; poached pear and spinach/artichoke omelet with ham the second day; berries and blueberry oatcake and crab quiche the last day) and Jeanne and Robert were flexible to alter the preparation to adjust to our kids tastes. The Victorian Suite was a treasure - a big room overlooking the bay, with a separate sitting room, and a nice big bathroom. The Harbor Room was comfy for the kids, too, though being on the first floor they could hear the early morning guests talking out on the porch.

The price is definitely reasonable as well. I had stayed at a nearby Inn on the same stretch of Lincolnville a couple years ago, and the price was quite a bit higher for a similar view and breakfast experience.

Room Tip: The Victorian Suite, Sawyer Suite and Bay Room have views of the water, but we got a chance to peek...

Robert and Jeanne are very hospitable and welcoming. The rooms are beyond spotless, and everything about Victorian by the Sea is comfortable. Their attention to detail in every aspect was outstanding, from the material available in the common room to the variety of spaces available where guests can relax. Most of all, it's hard to imagine a more delicious breakfast.

Jeanne and Robert were so accommodating, due to a late flight we couldn't get in until 2:30 am and they had everything ready for us. The place was beautiful, it was peaceful, relaxing and very enjoyable. The breakfasts they prepared for us was equivalent to a top notch hotel, great variety and combinations. The place itself had such a welcoming feeling, you felt like you were at home. I would recommend this to anyone going to Maine, we went for the lobster festival this year. Overall a great place to stay.

There's a very good reason Victorian by the Sea has so many great reviews and virtually no poor ones--the owners, Robert and Jeanne, have created a warm and inviting atmosphere of hospitality in a historic mansion that has been beautifully renovated and sits in an outstanding location, a private, quiet retreat with a wonderful view of Penobscot Bay. The house is outside Camden, but the town is only a couple of minutes' drive away. That's a real plus, because Camden itself is mobbed during the high season. We stayed in what we believe is their best room--the Victorian--and it is a lovely, spacious suite with windows everywhere and an amazing view of the bay. Our sense is that Rob and Jeanne are perfectionists--the rooms lack nothing in terms of amenities and are immaculate in every way. The breakfasts are served in a very pretty dining area with views and the food matches those views. To top it off, Rob and Jeanne have hired warm and friendly helpers (such as Cherylene) who would make great innkeepers on their own. We've stayed at B&Bs for 40 years and this experience has to be among our top 10!

Love this B&B. We stayed in the Victorian suite. Our first day was rainy so we relaxed in our sitting room with a water view reading and resting. The Inn is maintained with excellence. Our room, almost all white, was spotless and the sheets, pillows and comforter smelled freshly laundered. The bed was exceptionally comfortable too. You are within easy driving distance to Camden or hiking/kayaking in the state park. Breakfast on the enclosed porch is a treat, one that you will look forward to again after your first time. The Inn Keepers had much knowledge about the area if needed. A fantastic stay, was hard to move on after the bar was raised so high.

This B & B fulfilled our wishes for a great getaway. The room we chose was well appointed, extremely clean and had a comfortable bed. The breakfast was catered in a beautiful glass surrounded area where the food was top notch. Jeanne even gave us a hand printed copy of the wonderful Rhubarb muffins that were simply delicious. It is always a pleasure to visit a bed and breakfast where the owners are aware that attitude towards guests is a sure way to get repeat clients. The care they take of their guests is a reflection of the care they take of their home. In this case both were much appreciated. Hope to return in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: We stayed in the season room and it was great!
