We drove to Machias from Bar Harbor and stayed at an inn whose owners also are involved with this restaurant and we received a discount when dining there. We had breakfast there three days and dinner on two evenings. Service seems a little crazy in this town, not only at this restaurant. The servers often are young girls who seem inexperienced at setting a table (had to ask for silverware) and the order of food service. Our salads arrived shortly after our appetizer and then the main course quickly followed. The dirty salad plates were not removed when the entrees arrived. "Correct" wine service doesn't happen at either restaurant in town. The bottle arrives opened and you pour it yourself. Everyone there was friendly and tried to be helpful.
Wine prices are exceptional ly reasonable. A bottle of Kendall Jackson chardonnay was only a few dollars more than what I pay for it in our home supermarket. Other wines were also under $20 a bottle. Our dinners were good and the wild blueberry pie was delicious.
