Located in the northern section of the park next to Lower South Branch Pond. Well kept, clean camp ground with a mix of lean to's and campsites. Drive in access. No running water. Outhouses only (compared to those found elsewhere on the appalachain trail, these were very clean.) Campsites were a bit close together. Would recommend any of the lean to sites 1 thru 7 located on the shoreline of the pond. Watch out for racoons and bring some cash for firewood $3 a bundle. The lake is gorgeous and the water was warm when we were there over labor day. Canoes available at the site. If you're planning on hiking Katahdin be aware, it's about a 2 hr drive from this site south thru the park to one of the main trail heads. Overall had a really nice experience. Would've like to have had some more time to explore the area.
