I went with my two teenagers to explore Maine, which we had never been to. After a beautiful time meandering up the coast from Portland to Bar Harbor, I had no plans for the last 3 days. Took out a map and wanted to see the interior of Maine and what better would be Baxter State Park where the Appalachian Trail ends at Katahdin. Stayed at Appalachian Trail Lodge in Millinocket, and booked the family suite. Expected "rustic" but we got a fantastic, well appointed, CLEAN 1 BR, LR with 2 comfortable futons, full bath and kitchen. Jamie and Paul were wonderful in welcoming us but also in pointing out fantastic day hikes like the ice caves and blueberry ledges. For those inclined, they may be able to provide hiking gear for those that want to explore the region. This was an experience we will all be talking about for years to come.
They also own a wonderful restaurant within walking distance. Great food! Thanks, Jamie and Paul, for the wonderful memories.More
