The John Sterling Harbor House is in the spirit of Monhegan Island - it is a basic, no frills inn. Our room overlooked the harbor, had simple antique pieces in it, and had glorious breezes at all times, which made sleeping incredibly blissful. The innkeeper is a gracious host and direct descendant of the builder of the house. Her hospitality made us feel welcome. At first we were surprised by the inn's simplicity but quickly came to treasure it. It's in keeping with the spirit of the island. Breakfast was simple but delicious. When we return to Monhegan Island, we will stay again at the John Sterling Harbor House and stay for a longer time.
