“Great place to take kids for lobster”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

We had a great dinner here with our 4 kids, one of whom is a toddler. Sat outside where the view was gorgeous (and her chatter wouldn't bother anyone). Staff was super-friendly and let the kids watch as they selected our lobsters- our older kids were fascinated! Service was great and we thought the lobster was fantastic. Only downside was the mosquito frenzy as we were finishing up around 8:30-9:00.

“A Beautiful Way to Eat Lobster”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

A gallery owner in Bar Harbor recommended Abel's, letting us know that it was a little pricey for a lobster pound but that the ambience was worth it....and it certainly was! Not only was the service outstanding but we were warmly welcomed and made to feel like valued guests. The view overlooking Somes Sound was magnificent. The lobsters were fresh and delicious and we topped them off with their homemade bread pudding which was just like bread pudding used to be before foodies felt that it needed to be "fancied up". What a treat! Albel's was a highlight of a wonderful day in Acadia National Park and visit to Bar Harbor.

“Wouldn't go back”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

I'm not a huge lobster lover but I was looking forward to one in Maine but I didn't enjoy the lobster here. My husbands was overcooked and my lobster salad was too sweet. Service was good though. And we had a small child - they were very understanding about the mess.

We so hope you mentioned the lobster was overcooked, we would have taken care to get you one cooked just the way you like it.

Lobster Salad is such a tough call, some want more mayo, some less, more sweet, less sweet. Sorry, you didn't enjoy yours.

We do have good service and a view that is pure Maine!

Hope your trip to Maine was awesome and you can come back again soon.

“Nice view, friendly service.”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed our lunch at Abel's last week.

The lobster rolls were good and fresh. it was worth checking out, however we liked several other places in SW Harbor better, which were also less expensive.

Still had a nice view on a rainy day.

Bummer about the rain and you are so right, the view is still great on a rainy day!

Price is different all over Maine for seafood; we all have different atmosphere with different expenses....we realize you can go else where; however, it sounds like with our great food, friendly service and a view, we were worth the stop.

Thank you, we hope the rest of your vacation was not as wet!!!!

“Great Food and Spectacular View”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

My partner and I recently had lunch here. Granted it is a bit off the beaten path, but we loved it. The food was great and the harbor view from the outside picnic tables was spectacular. The service was also exceptional. If in Bar Harbor - check it out. PS don't be put off by the large lobster industrial cranes you see as you first enter. From the picnic tables outside the restaurant you can hardly see them.

Why thank you; the view is spectacular, it does make up for the entrance to the restaurant doesn't it!!!!
