“Terrific for lunch”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

The Cupboard has an outstanding reputation in mid-coast Maine as a great breakfast/lunch place because they make their breads every day on premises and the other ingredients are really fresh and well prepared. I hadn't been for lunch because I rarely go out in the middle of the day - generally we prefer to go out for dinner. We finally went to the Cupboard a few days ago and were happy to find their reputation to be well justified. My husband had the bowl of haddock chowder and a half tuna veggie sandwich. At first he thought the chunks in the chowder were potatoes but quickly discovered they were fish - he said it was an amazing amount of fish and really delicious. I had the roasted pepper, spinach, mushroom and goat and swiss cheeses sandwich which was grilled. The balance of flavors was just right and while it's a loose sort of filling, it didn't drip all over the plate but held up nicely. The breads are really good, too. We didn't want dessert (too many calories) but I'm going back for the wonderful looking cream puffs soon.
The restaurant will close for the season after Nov. 24 and is only open for breakfast and lunch but it's well worth a visit either this season or next.

“nice local cafe”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

This was a nice local cafe recommended by friends in the area, not that easy to find but worth it. Went for breakfast which was very nice.

“Unexpected sandwich shop and bakery”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Always crowded because this is the go-to place for breakfast pastry and lunch. They recently started offering pizza which is both traditional and gourmet. There is a small dining area in the store and a deck outside for dining, but I prefer buying a delicious sandwich (and they all are,) and sitting at the Pemaquid Historic Park dining by the water.

“Good Breakfast”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

A nice place for breakfast. The food is very good, it's just expensive and not very quick. Parking is also an issue.

“Great breakfast!”

You have to try a sticky bun! I can't even describe how amazing these things are! I had chocolate chip pancakes and hubby had oatmeal. Loved it! Cute place and worth the trip for the sticky bun!
