“Warning: Golf package doesn't include golf!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2011

Go figure. The website lists the package under "Golf Packages" but doesn't specifically state that golf is included. It thought it was. The golf club was very kind to offer me their member rate, but the hotel claimed no responsibility.
Otherwise the hotel is just average. The included breakfast was in a tiny coffee cafe, not a restaurant as I assumed.

My wife and I stayed at the Jordan Grand for one week in a timeshare unit and had a wonderful time. The hotel itself is on one of the mountains at Sunday River, however it is several miles off the main road (a good 15 minute ride). If you are looking for a party scene, this is not the place for you. The hotel bar/restaurant closes around 10PM during the summer and most nearby (if you call 6-10 miles nearby) restaurants close around the same time. Hiking in the area is good which we did several days. Hiking around Sunday River itself is not all that challenging as you as primarily hiking across ski trails which makes it much easier. Grafton State Park is also nearby which has many good hiking trails and is connected with the Appalachian trails. We spent a solid 6 hours making the trek up and down Old Spiek.

We sampled a lot of the local restaruants and if you are looking for dinner or a bit to eat Sunday River Brewery (closest to the resort) has good brews and food as well. Roosters which is also nearby looked like a locals type of place and had good deals on food and beer. A couple more miles down the road is Bethel which also has a couple good bars and restaurants. If you are looking for a higher end restaurant 22 Broad would be it. They have a small 6 seat or so bar which you can eat at, but if you are looking for a table, I would recommend making a reservation. The Sudbury Inn also has a nice restaurant. If you are looking for nightlife, downstairs at the Sudbury Inn is Suds Pub which has live music most nights off the week and is open lattter.

Back to the Jordan Grand, Sliders is their bar/restaurant which has good food and excellent staff.

The one downside of our stay was that we had a room with a murphy bed. It was comfortable enough, however a normal bed would have made the vacation much more enjoyable. The health club was also very disappointing.

I like many others who viewed this page, was wary because of the other reviews. I found my stay to be quite contrary to many other and found my room to be nice along with service and excellent waiters. I may have had a different experience than other but it was definatly a pleasurable one.

After reading comments here I was dubious about booking. I had stayed here before about 10 years ago and it had been a very good experience, but it sounded like The Jordan Resort had gone downhill. Far from it - it was better than before. The staff were excellent, exceptional in the ski rental shop. The beds were very comfortable and great after hard days skiing. Super location for the slopes . If you want more than hotel restaurant /bar then you have to drive into main ski area , about 10 minutes. The only fault and its minor was the changing room/locker room by the the pool - it needed a clean up , there were lots of wet towels everywhere.

A female staff member at the Jordan Grand stole $200 out of my purse that I accidentally left in the lobby, and the many managers I spoke to were rude and utterly unhelpful. Security tried to help, but they have no sway. I was never compensated nor apologized to. The quality of the service (and food) for the price we paid was outrageously painful and my experience still bothers me weeks later. Lastly, it was so windy the trails behind the Jordan Grand were closed all weekend. Terrible experience. On the bright side, the waitresses and waiters were fun and professional.

I booked way in advance hoping to have less stress while on vacation. From the beginning the Jordan added more stress and made for a terrible experience. I was told to "chill" when I couldnt get my door open without kicking it in. The breakfast line was a 30 minute wait, to find out there was no food or hot coffee, no bagels. Granted there was wind so we understood when the lift was closed next to the Jordan, but we waited an hour to get on a shuttle and did not start our ski day until 1030am. Is there any managment at the Jordan? This is just day two. I left in tears.

First room was above the boiler and the entire room shook throughout turnouts making sleep impossible. Staff moved us to an upgraded room the next day. Some staff is nice and professional but the majority were unprofessional for this level of hotel. Specially at he restaurants, where they were severely understaffed and the staff there did not care about waiting well. Example, at the breakfast buffet, waiters dont take plates fom the table once you are done, so the table just piles up with dirty plate. Rooms were worn out and cheaply furnished.
