“Our Main Stay in OGT”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

Meadowmere is well run with very good amenities, owners who are active in day to day work and contribute to preserving the spectacular OGT shoreline. We like that the Meadowmere is situated between our two favorite places, Perkins Cove and the beach. It is also on Route 1, which makes it easily accessible without traffic jams but it is well-landscaped and attractive. They do have good food, continental breakfast in the lounge and the resort abuts Jonathans, a high quality restaurant . We stay at Meadowmere several times a year.

Room Tip: Book ahead! The best rooms are closest to the main office.

My daughter (age 11) and I just returned home after a 3 night stay in the South Luxury Suite. I am rather picky about hotels and our experience at Meadowmere exceeded our expectations. Our spacious suite was immaculately clean and fresh, our in-room Jacuzzi sparkled, towels were large and plentiful, the mattress, pillows, linens on the king size bed were luxurious which made for wonderful night's sleep. The in-room gas fire place was across from the Jacuzzi and was a great ending to our daily shopping excursions at the outlets. The hotel amenities such as the indoor pool, sauna, Roman Bath, outdoor hot tub, and game room were enough to keep us busy at the end of our days. The staff at the front desk were extremely pleasant and helpful with assisting us in finding dining, as many of the area restaurants were either closed for the season or from Sunday-Wednesday which was the time period we happened to be there. We ended up finding some excellent restaurants however. The hotel pub was closed the whole time we were there. Our getaway was very enjoyable and I highly recommend Meadowmere and would stay again without hesitation.

Green Features: Their environment-friendly practices were plentiful and were appropriately shared with guests.

I just returned today from staying at the Meadowmere Resort for one night. My sister and I own a home in York and went up to check on it. My niece was married two years ago, and the entire wedding party and guests stayed at the Meadowmere, so we thought we would go back there for the night. The first thing we encountered were two girls at the front desk on the phones. We waited for 5 minutes and then one girl began to check us in. After 2-3 minutes of beginning to get our information, she passed us over to the other girl to continue to check us in, so she could get back on the phone. My sister and I live in different states so we had two cars and I was told that I couldn't park at the hotel, but for a fee of $25, I could park across the street at Jonathan's extra parking lot! Now mind you, we were in the middle of a blizzard, Maine got over 10 inches of snow last night. I am almost 60 years old, and they wanted me to walk across Route 1 in a snow storm when they had a vacancy sign up and their parking lot wasn't even half full? We asked if they could make an exception and we were told that she would have to talk to her manager, who was sitting right there listening to the entire conversation and didn't say a thing. We went to move our cars, and when we returned, we were told that they would make an exception, but that I couldn't park up near the red building, I had to park one driveway down at the Squire building and she wrote, Squire ONLY in large letters on my paper to put in my window. They made it seem like they were doing me a huge favor.
This morning, I woke up very early and looked at the parking lot. There must have been 20 spots or more right outside the red building, and more down below near the main building! So instead of being able to clean off my car early, and let it run to melt the snow, I had to wait until we checked out to drive over to the other lot and take the 8-10 inches of snow off my car. After this experience, I will never return and will not recommend this hotel to anyone. In December I came to Portsmouth with friends, and stayed at the Hilton Garden hotel. The treatment was like night and day between the two hotels. The Meadowmere Hotel did not make me feel like a "Member of the Meadowmere Family", like they claim in their brochure.

Dear LVYKBCH,

It is with our apologies to respond to your posting and we thank you for your business.

We are disappointed that our hotel did not meet your expectations for your stay and we appreciate your concerns. We strive to provide friendly and attentive service to all of our guests. Although we apologize for the wait at check in we are happy to see that we were able to get you checked into your room upon your early arrival.

It is unfortunate we were not giving the opportunity to discuss these concerns with you. We wish you had taken the time to speak with us directly as we would have explained our parking procedures pertaining to weather and snow removal. We were able to speak your sister, the guest registered with us, who appreciated that we made an exception for the extra parking and mentioned she is looking forward to coming back.

Thank you for sharing your concerns.

We just came from a overnite stay at this motel for valentines! Nice room, clean roman spa, plenty of parking, pub entertaining but pricey on drinks. The movie theater in the motel is nice with fairly recent movies. Staff was excellent! Not enough time to explore the place and take the foot walk to the beach! Will definitely go again for a longer stay in the summer!

My girlfriend and I were celebrating our two year anniversary yesterday the 12th and with valentines day being so close I opted for a mini getaway. Our work schedules are crazy so we could only go for a night but with ogunquit being so close it was perfect for the night. We stayed in the " main jacuzzi suite." When I looked at the room online I thought it looked great. When we got in the room we were surprised to see how it was completely different in an amazing way! The jacuzzi was its own little room within our room and it was a sauna room set up! Perfect for the rest and relaxation we both needed. We stayed in the jacuzzi 2 hours before going to dinner. We went to MC and it was phenomenal. Me being a chef also I'm judge mental were ever I go and I couldn't think of one bad thing about this quiet little resturant. Upon returning to our room we spent the rest of the night in and out of the jacuzzi. We didn't want to leave this morning and it was hard to believe this mini trip was already over. We are planning this same trip for again next year with a longer stay and hope we can book the same room again! If you want quiet relaxation in a beautiful little town them this is the place you want to go. I highly recommend it!

Good deal at $100 a night for two people. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The spa features were fine. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. The massage was excellent, one of the best I'm had. Standard hotel decor. But at that price we weren't expecting more.

We purchased the Valentine's Weekend Getaway (Meadowmere was hosting this getaway 2 weekends in a row) for the weekend of February 7- February 9th. Upon arrival we were amazed at the size of this resort. It was huge!

Our weekend package getaway included:
- champagne and chocolate welcome hosted at the West Meadow Pub, which is on-site and attached to one of the buildings. We had a choice of using that on Friday night or Saturday night.
- Full open menu breakfast at Jonathan's Restaurant for Saturday and Sunday (Saturday breakfast: Irish Omelet: huge portion omelet made with onions, peppers, Swiss cheese and corned beef hash, accompanied by roasted red potatoes, and choice of bread/english muffin for side. [It was so much food I couldn't finish.] Sunday breakfast was pecan crusted French toast with side of bacon and a Western omelet accompanied by red roasted potatoes and choice of bread/English muffin. Oh and bottomless cups of coffee!!
- Choice of open menu dinner at either Jonathan's Restaurant or Old Village Inn. (We chose Jonathan's and had a reserved seating time. Each person was given their own appetizer, entree, and dessert. Liquor, other than a glass of wine, was at our expense.) Our selection for dinner was Oyster's Rockefeller and baked artichoke with Swiss cheese for appetizers, Maine Seafood Pasta (linguini with lobster tail, lobster claw, shrimp, clams in shells, with diced tomatoes and garlic) for the entree, and for dessert: Belgium chocolate mousse and baked apple crisp with vanilla ice cream.
- Saturday evening entertainment at Jonathan's Restaurant ($79 value, stage side seating and a complimentary drink for each person) featured The James Montgomery Blues Band!
- gratuities included with all the meals!

The room (South Meadow building), although was like most hotel rooms, was exceptionally clean and very comfortable featuring two full sized beds, nightstand, desk, bureau, flat screen tv with a mix of cable and local channels (no movie channels), free in-room wifi, coffee pot (if you're a big coffee drinker, bring your own coffee pot and fixings), hair dryer, iron, ironing board, and refrigerator. The counter, sink, and mirror were separate and across from the bathroom (situated by the door) had the refrigerator built into the cabinetry. There was also a set of sliding doors opening up to our own private balcony, which was a bit small but served its purpose.

To our absolute delight, in our building/wing (most of the buildings/wings are connected to the main reception building) there was a Roman Spa Jacuzzi with heated saltwater (closed every Thursday for cleaning) and a movie theater with stadium seating. Each night there were two movies shown 5pm & 8pm and each movie selection has been recently released to DVD.

In the main building by reception, there featured an indoor heated pool, a sitting room offering books, television, and a fireplace. The main reception entrance was directly across from the West Meadow Pub.

One other thing of note:
On our first night there we opted for room service from Jonathan's Restaurant due to being tired from the 3 hour drive. The menu selection offered was directly off their main menu and the food was fantastic (Rhode Island style fried calamari with fried pickled peppers for appetizer, Haddock with seafood stuffing, 16'' grilled ribeye steak [each entree with potatoes, broccoli, and carrots] for the entrees, and Traditional Italian Zabaglione with assorted berries for dessert. The cost of the meal was charged directly to the room, no money exchanged hands..not even a tip as it was included. The haddock was cooked to perfection, the ribeye was grilled so well that it cut like butter..even with a plastic fork and knife (the only disappointment was the room service cutlery), and the zabaglione was so phenomenal, I had to do an internet search on how to pronounce it AND for a recipe!!! TOP NOTCH!

Extremely value friendly for the package especially for being off-season.

Room Tip: Bring your own travel coffeemaker with all the fixings because unfortunately the in room coffeemaker...
