“Lovely Inn By the Sea”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

My family decided to gamble on getting a room here in high season after camping for a night of luxury. Luckily the hotel had a room for us. Well appointed, ocean view, clean, crisp everything you could ask for in a room. Beautiful grounds, well kept and inviting. Great walk on Marginal Way with scenic views or a 20 minute walk to ocean. Easy stroll to downtown shops. My only complaint was the included breakfast buffet. Honestly I have had better in Marriotts for half the price of the room. Why no fresh fruit either sliced or in a salad? Bowls of Maine blueberries would have been lovely. Yogurt options beside vanilla would be nice too. Maybe sliced cheese or salmon? The baked goods were tasty and the granola delicious. Certainly was plenty of choices but sadly a little underwhelming. Was happy they let us check out at noon though!

My husband, kids and I have been to Ogonquit Maine five out of seven years. We have stayed at the Beachmere four times. Last year we stayed at another just to try it out and the inn was booked for when we wanted to come. You have to book early at this inn that is always a good sign. We absolutely love this inn the view, the rooms, the staff and being on the marginal is absolutely wonderful and convenient. It's a nice walk to Perkins our downtown. The rooms are spectacular, clean and comfortable for my family of four. We stayed seven days, we didn't use the spa, sauna or hot tub though it was nice to have these options. We didn't have meals there other than the contential breakfast. Though the lobster bake on Wednesday looked and smelled amazing we will do it next year. We stayed in room 223 it has a beautiful view of the ocean and grounds. Our housekeeper Tammy was very friendly. She did miss some towels one day though it was totally okay since we liked her so much. The front desk staff the one night (I wish I could remember their names but it was the Friday night around 9 pm) was super great. I went down to look at rooms for next year and she talked us into 206 next year. It looks like a fabulous room with spectacular views so we can't wait. I love at low tide that there is a beach upfront and I even got wifi from the inn on it, which was very impressive. The wifi was great no issues at all. My kids loved the free movies though the popcorn with it was the icing on the cake for them. I would recommend some recent ones though lots to pick from. We did look at two other inns when we were there this week and there was no comparison for us. The Beachmere Inn is our place and we will go back again and again. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The Beachmere Inn is more of a resort-it has the best views to the ocean and River with direct access to the Marginal way. The rooms are comfortable, efficient and quiet. You can lounge on the beautiful lawn overlooking the ocean and have lunch in the cafe on site or even visit their spa. Meredith is a very skilled massage therapist. I enjoyed and returned refreshed, renewed and relaxed from just staying at the Beachmere, All of the staff from the front desk, to housekeeping, restaurant and grounds, are not only friendly but want to ensure your stay is perfect. We've been going for years and just love our time at the Inn. I think it's one of the only "green" and environmentally friendly properties in Ogunquit. Must stay! Got to finally meet the owner, Sarah, a true Mainer who loves her work and her guests. No pets allowed and non-smoking property!

This was our 6th stay at Beachmere. While the accommodations in the West and South buildings are very modern and comfortable, a couple of things were noticeable this year. Don't plan on using the wifi in your room because the service is terrible. Two feet out your backdoor and in the middle of the front lawn it is perfect reception, but as soon as you go into your room the signal disappears. We talked to the front desk and they said they would reboot the router but as far as we could tell it made no difference. The result - unwanted data charges. On another note, on several occasions our room was not cleaned until close to 3 in the afternoon. The housekeeping staff commented one day that they were slowed up by the number of new guests checking into rooms. At over $400 a night, this is just not acceptable. We would continue staying at Beachmere because of its location and ambiance but hope they address these couple of issues before we return next summer.

The main in was full when we were booking our stay, so we booked a room at their off-site Bullfrog Cottage. It was like having our own apartment, a short walk (down the street and then onto The Marginal Way) to the main Inn. The room had a bedroom, private bath, sitting area and kitchenette along with daily housekeeping and an assigned parking spot. Walking up the street in the opposite direction brings you right into the center of town in a couple of minutes. There is no ocean view, but there is a nice back yard at the cottage.

The spa a the Inn was great. We did the signature massage and it was very luxurious! Yoga on the grass in the morning is a great idea; really enjoyed it. The food in the restaurant was also very good and the bartender makes a great drink! Not too many people seemed to be visiting the restaurant while we were there; not sure why. It was really good with a nice view from the deck. Nice breakfast as well with delicious homemade granola; some fresh fruit would have been nice though (other than just the bananas.)

We brought our own beach chairs for the beach but there were always lounge chairs available on the big grassy lawn that overlooks the ocean when we wanted to sit there. There are two small beaches just across from the hotel on the Marginal Way. The second one down (farther from the Inn but closer to the entrance to the street Bullfrog is on) was bigger and less crowded while we were there. You have to bring your own chair down to the beach. Beach towels are provided in the rooms. Seems like they should have a pool, but they don't.

You can't beat the location right on the footpath, gorgeous ocean view and a short walk to town.

Overall, a very relaxing stay with friendly staff and a great location.

Stayed here last month and returned to Ogunquit but had to stay elsewhere because the Beachmere was booked. Not the same! Wonderful views, beautiful property and very clean. Never felt crowded and close to everything. Probably a better place for couples than families as there are few on-site activities for kids. Whereas the hotel next door has a tennis court, outdoor pool and shuffleboard. The breakfast is continental - no pancakes, French toast, or eggs which is a must for my sons. My husband and I will return again perhaps in the fall. All in all a great peaceful couples getaway.

I have travelled to Ogunquit many times, and the best place to stay is the Beachmere Inn. It is one of the few places that has direct beach access, but also a beautiful lawn for the kids to play on, as well as a playground. They can accommodate a number of different lodging needs and have something for everyone. The staff is very attentive and will help any way they can. The location is ideal, right on Marginal Way, a short walk to town, and right on the beach. I have stayed here in the summer and winter, and it has been great. If you stay in Ogunquit, this is THE place to stay!
