“A "Must Visit" Place To Eat In Ogunquit”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

One step from the sidewalks of Ogunquit brings you into the Bread and Roses Café. A cross between a busy NYC bakery and something you find in Europe, this is the place to go any time of day for coffee, sandwiches and especially sweets.

It is not palatial inside. Be ready to make your own path to the counters and follow a somewhat scattered system to order and pay. What some would call confusing others call charming. There is a real bustle to this place and once you taste the first bite of anything you will know why.

Muffins and scones in the morning are great. Good coffee and some specialty hot beverages as well. They have a morning coffee cake that is unbelievable.

Daytime and at night, the pastries are the real stars of the show. Napoleons, éclairs, cakes, tortes, and various figure pastries are all there for the taking. They make these cappuccino cups, totally edible with cappuccino mouse inside that are wickedly sinful. Of course, pastries can be eaten at breakfast too. Just ask my family!!!

Charm is everywhere in the shop. From the French bakery hats that the many girls who work in the store wear to the various bling all around the shop, you will find fun and good company here. Anybody who appreciates the finer points of a life in pasties will enjoy what and who you find here.

The place is always busy. Don’t wait or look for a slow time because it will never come. Charge in and get your pastries and coffee here, anytime of day. You will be quite enchanted with the store and find pleasure in the treats that you enjoy. This is a must visit location in Ogunquit.

“Nice desserts”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

My husband and I stopped in twice and enjoyed the beautiful baked goods. Their coffee is also good. One of the items we got, a cheesecake bar didn't seem fresh, like it sat in the fridge too long, but everything else was very good. The service is outstanding. I would definitely go back again.

“Delicious”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Wow! The smell of this place just wafts down the quaint little street every time the shop door opens. This is "big city" quality and selection in little Ogunquit. The delicacies here could compete with treats made anywhere in the world. Do not go there if you are on a diet, and if you are on a diet, remember, you only live once and this place is worth the weight!

Great service for us the adults and our 4 teens. Our 4 teens frequented this bakery often on our trip and had great service every time as well as a great selection of the freshest treats.

“No calories count on vacation!”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

We've been coming to Ogunquit for years the first week in August. This is always a BIG highlight. The blueberry scones are to die for. Jared's Wedding Cake is unlike any other cake I've had...and I've had a lot! Quality and commitment to the community are the cornerstones of this great little bakery in Maine!
