Just had to share my unique experience at the Grand Hotel in Ogunquit Maine. WOW .....What a fabulous impression to walk into this hotel and see the beautiful lobby, classy decor and soothing music to put you right into the vacation "mode". We were greeted at check-in by extremely gracious and friendly employees who went out of their way to welcome us, and then to see the suite....not your usual one-room hotel. How wonderful to have the luxury of a living room/kitchenette with microwave, newly updated and extremely clean bathroom and then a king-size bedroom with a private deck. The family enjoyed the option of allowing a person to sleep in privacy, while the rest of the family could enjoy tv, games, etc. in the living room. The breakfast that was served was absolutely outstanding......bagels, muffins, yogarts, cereals, fruits, donuts and a variety of juices. Definitely not your usual danish in a bag which most hotels offer. We have already booked a trip back to the Grand Hotel this June. Can't wait to return and be treated like a VIP again!!!! Enhance any memory of a trip to Maine with a stay at the Grand Hotel.

This used to be the best kept secret in Ogunquit....until....their attitude to their customer service changed. This used to be a reliable, clean hotel where customer service mattered. It now appears that it is all "about the money."

I don't want to get into our issues too deeply here...each person needs to decide how much they like this hotel for themselves. What I will say, however, is that we used to be regular customers (seven years running) and until last year were always treated with respect and courtesy.

It is still a cute, small place with a great location. However, not feeling that we could ever trust the management of this hotel again, my family and I have decided to start a new tradition elsewhere. With as many nice and clean places the Ogunquit "corridor" has to offer, customer service needs to be at the "top" of the hotel's list for services given. At The Grand Hotel, that no longer matters! There are too many desirable places to stay, and I suggest that if you are looking for one, keep looking. Honesty and integrity our everything to me and my family...

My wife and I visited the Grand during mid-week and enjoyed the hotel
and the convenience to town. A five minute walk in either direction has you in the center of town or at the ocean's edge. The hotel is clean, quiet and charming. Everyone we met from the hotel was very nice and accomodating. We did not ask for much, but taking care of dinner reservations for us was a nice touch. The rooms are comfortable and a little dated, but kept in very good condition. I would recommend the penthouse rooms on the third floor simply because
of the extra room, a large deck area and there seems to be fewer rooms. I would not have wanted to stay on the first floor due to the common areas right outside the rooms. And during breakfast, it would probably be a bit noisy. Breakfast was fine for a quick bite and the fruit was fresh. Fresh coffee was available all day - something my wife enjoyed as we came and went throughout the day. Parking is great
in bad weather - under the hotel and a convenient elevator brings you
right to your floor. We would definitely return and we enjoyed the 4 days we spent at the Grand.

You'll get a fairly spacious suite for a competitive rate here, and you'll be able to walk to Perkins Cove, with its shops and restaurants, in under 10 minutes. WiFi internet is a nice extra. The big down side for us was the sound of TV's reverberating from all sides; I've never experienced a worse television noise problem in a hotel at this level. They also pump up the mood music in the lobby and since every room abuts the lobby, we were also bothered by that. If you prefer a quiet hotel experience, don't stay here!

It is wonderful to hear that this guest found our spacious luxury two room suites to be a great value and well equipped for internet savvy quests. It also seems that they particularly liked our location which is conveniently situated just a few short steps away from dozens of shops and restaurants in the waterfront district of Perkins Cove and Marginal Way.
As for the comments regarding the noise from the TV’s; our usual procedure is to maintain an appropriate volume level on all of our TV’s. Occasionally, a guest will request that we raise the governor on the volume so they can hear it better. We return it to its normal level once they have departed. Apparently, we had overlooked one. Likewise, we do have some beautiful music mastered by local artists that we love to share with our guests. We have a state of the art sound system that flows throughout our spectacular three story atrium. Most guests truly enjoy the soothing atmosphere that the music creates. In fact, we have been asked by several guests to provide these CD’s for purchase. If the staff was made aware of this guest’s inconvenience they would have addressed the situation and sought to make amends.

In New England we get to explore a number of states in a short period of time in travel - If Maine is one of your family's destinations, think about The Grand Hotel in Ogunquit Maine.

We do a mother-daughter trip with my cousin & aunt (mom's & aunts combined age 160yrs!). We've visited The Grand 4yrs now and for us to come back year after year, is the welcomed and special attention we receive from the staff and owners at The Grand.

The rooms are clean, service at the front desk fantastic(ask about any day trip, restaurants around town etc...) Mostly your experience will make you want to return to The Grand Hotel whether it be the pool, hot tub or nice continental breakfast in the morning...Shhhhh let's keep this place a secret!

We had booked 2 hotels ( 3 days each) after spending 3 marvelous days in the first one, we arrived at The Grand Hotel.
What a major deception !

The website and brochure are terribly deceptive to the point that it could be called false representation. Let me explain, we were very excited by the website and the photo. Particularly attracted by the interior round swimming pool...To our surprise, the pool could not even be called a pool...I though it was the jaccuzi...It is so small that if my sister and I were to swim together, we would have touch each other while swimming in circle like to goldfish...The water was barely translucid...Scary !

The outside picture of the Hotel look like an modern building with a retro style. It look like it's big and pretty. In fact it is very small and the rooms are on the side. The balcony (described as vast...) are very small.

The room were misrepresented also, the photographer who did the job could make make anyone look like a goodess !!!
They used special lighting to convey the impression of sunlight, when in fact the suite had only one window in the bedroom. It felt cramped and dark and the smell of the carpet was gross.

They mention an atrium with plants and sunlight...They're fake plant and it is really small and dark again. Use of wide angle lenses..makes everything looks clean and large...NOT.

They rent about the great breakfast...They have coffee from a machine with milk powder...and plastic stick to stir it. Cheap, and who would eat in that atrium...It looks more like an hospital waiting room...

We hated it so much that we decided not to stay since our vacation was only 1 week. When we explain and tried to get our money back for the coming days, it was of course impossible...

Why do you think they make you pay the balance of the entire stay when you check in ???

The girl employed at the reception was very nice...she should work somewhere.

Don't go there if you want to enjoy your vacation !!!

It truly saddens us when we fail a guest as it seems we did this one. The Grand Hotel is proud of its history of room upgrades and refurbishments. We are undeniably an intimate hotel featuring twenty-eight of the largest suites available on the coast of New England. When The Grand Hotel was purchased in 1999, it was indeed, a Floridian style hotel. Since then, the property has gone through several transformations including a recently completed million dollar renovation consisting of new king size sleigh beds and Beautyrest mattresses, new plush carpets, Italian marble floors, new elegant furnishings, new appliances, and wireless internet throughout the hotel. We have successfully rekindled the grandeur and richness of yesteryears great seaside resorts. If any potential guest has a concern about our suites, I welcome them to view our suites from our website. We are consistently looking for new ways to improve the hotel.

Likewise, our complimentary continental breakfast has been praised by many guests as being very extensive. We offer fresh baked goods, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, juices, etc. For guests who wish for a more complete offering with hot food selections, we are just a moment’s walk away from several wonderful breakfast establishments. You can view their offerings in our expansive menu library. Our staff would be more than happy to offer our recommendations, as well.

It is hard to comment on this guest’s other remarks since they seem so unusual. Our circular indoor heated swimming pool is the warmest in Ogunquit at 86 degrees. It has been recognized by many to be a “god send” when the weather is inclement. We perform a daily maintenance routine on both our pool and hot tub to keep them in tip top shape for our guest’s enjoyment. We understand that when people are on vacation, their recollection of events may not always be accurate. Most guests comment on how relaxed and comfortable they are after they use our facilities. If this occurred, there must have been some exceptional circumstances.

It is unfortunate this guest’s stay was marred by these perceived inconsistencies to our usual high standards. Most of our guests that stay with us are very pleased with our accommodations and service. Of course, we can’t expect to meet everyone’s tastes and expectations, although we certainly make every effort to afford every guest a pleasant and memorable experience while they are here. Our heartfelt desire is that every guest leaves the hotel with a wonderful experience as many other guests have experienced and commented in other TripAdvisor reviews.

I have stayed at The Grand for the past 5 years. The staff has always been wonderful. The rooms are roomy, clean and quiet. A nice breakfast in the morning with muffins, cereal, oj, coffee, fruit and condiments. A nice porch with rocking chairs, a clean indoor pool and hot tub. A quick walk to Ogunquit resturants. The housekeeping staff was friendly and willing to help whenever needed. They even made up a "special bed" for my 4 year old. A short walk to the Marginal Way and plenty of parking. A great stay. I will return. Anybody that complains about this hotel is simply a person nobody can make happy. Go and you will not be disappointed.
