“Juniper Hill Inn-Always Fabulous”
Reviewed 12 July 2009

We have been going to the Juniper Hill for close to 15 years. My daughters who are now grown continue to join us. The rooms are always clean and the grounds are meticulous. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is great. The main beach is a 15 minute walk through the rear of the property and down the road. The town is a 5 minute walk. If you don't want to walk, the trolly stops right in front. Even though the Juniper Hill is on Route 1, it is situated in such a way that gives you a secluded feeling whether you are at the out door pools or hot tub or you are in your room. There are may places to just sit and relax, whether its around the pools, on the lawn, in the main lobby, on the porch or at one of the patio tables in the rear. Overall staying at the Juniper Hill is a 1st class experience.

We stayed one night at The Juniper Hill Inn as was pleasantly surprised. The amenities we upscale and the location was perfect. Walking distance to the Ogunquit shops, The Marginal Way, and the beach. Friendly staff and maintained very well. Indoor and outdoor pool and gym. Breakfast was included. Coffee available all day in the lobby. Will definitely go back.

1st impression is key - The sign is easy to spot form Route 1 and the check in was fast and friendly. Seems to be a quiet time of the year, looks like the whole area is gearing up for summer. Plenty of parking (at least 3 parking lots around the Inn).
Our room was nicely appointed with a king bed and mini - fridge (good for a bottle of wine and leftovers from dinner). We had dinner the first night at the Front Porch, a quick walk from the Inn, owner was very nice and food was great. There are plenty of bars/restaurants/shops less than 5 minute walk from the Inn.

Continental breakfast each morning in the lobby, pastries, cereal, coffee and juice. Nice touch - near breakfast is a computer with internet and a front desk staff waiting to help with our daily plans. They had a "coupon" for discounts at the Kittery Outlet malls that we used (and saved a bit of $$).

There is a footpath to the beach behind the Inn and in 5 minutes it opens up to the sounds and smell of the surf. This walk was the highlight of our every day!

Restaurants - Blue Elephant across the road (excellant Thai food) and the Ogunquit lobster pound (casual and lobster is sweet!!!)

We'd have no problem recommending this place, its ideally located, clean and friendly!

Do NOT book this property based on their website. It is extremely misleading. They show pictures of beautiful rooms in their "hotel". Those rooms are limited and if they are booked, they don't tell you. Instead they put you in their motel which looks nothing like the "hotel" rooms. Not even close. Forget about a refund when you find this out. It's not their "policy".
The "stroll"down a path that leds you "steps away from the beach" is actually a path that leds you to a residential area. From there you can walk over a mile to the beach. Don't plan on carrying anything ( chairs, cooler, etc.)TO the beach because you have to walk a mile uphill on the way back. If you want a wonderful Ogunquit experience: Stay in any of the properties on Shore Rd. You will have a beautiful room with an ocean view and WILL be steps away from the beach for the same price!
Don't be sucked in to the Juniper Hill "experience". You'll be sorry.

We were in Maine for our Granddaughters wedding. We spent six days at the Juniper Hill Inn. It is located a short walk from the coast in a beautiful setting. Rooms are very comfortable and the staff is very friendly. Continental Breakfast was always very good. Would stay here again.

Our family has been vacationing in Ogunquit for approximately 15 years and have been staying at the Juniper Hill for a majority of those stays. We returned this August. The grounds are nicely maintained, the rooms are clean and bright. The outdoor pools are well located and the hot tub is a pleasure. We have not used the indoor pool but you can see many people enjoying that also. My daughter enjoys the exercise room. Although the Juniper Hill is on Route 1, it is far enough back from the road to give a secluded feeling. There is a trolley stop right in front of the Inn. It is a quick 5 minute walk into town. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to the beach, down a path through the back of the property and down a quiet residential road. Some people may complain that a 15 to 20 minute walk is to long, but it is relaxing (what's the rush) and certainly beats getting into a hot car and trying to find a parking space. The continental breakfast is above average, although we enjoy going across the street to Bintliffs or up the road to the Egg and I for breakfast. You can enjoy your breakfast in the building where it is served, or sit in front of your room on the porch, or go behind the main building where there are small alcoves containing patio tables, umbrellas and chairs. For the first time ever in Ogunquit, we had problems with people in the neigboring rooms, but the manager Alex quickly resolved the situation by speaking to them and then moving us to another room in another part of the property. Can't ask for anything more then that. We always look forward to returning to the Juniper Inn.

I still cannot believe I paid 244 per night for this motel. I expected a lot nicer than a "red roof inn". The rooms were dated, the breakfast was bagels and doughnuts in a cramped little room beside the pool. The web site said the pool was heated, but everyone there agreeded it was only heated by the sun. The "walking path" to the ocean is actually a 10 to 15 minute hike down a back road with houses. Upon leaving I asked the clerk where the rooms were that looked like the picture on the internet site, and was told " there are TWO rooms in the motel that look like that". This did not make my first trip to Maine a great experience.
