We have been coming to Ogunquit for many years and have stayed at Seacastles a few times before and also at many other locations in Ogunquit. We chose Seacastles this year because they seemed to have the best price for a suite with separate a bedroom.
-As soon as we entered the room we realised the small savings was not worth it!! The room smelled horrible - like an old refrigerator that had been left unplugged.
-The furniture and carpets were so outdated looking that the idea of sitting down and relaxing in our living area was just not an option - luckiy the weather was great so we could lounge outside.
-The indoor pool is the most disgusting mold den I've ever seen - you couldn't find a worse pool in the dingiest 49.00 / night motel on the side of the highway.
-I spent my entire vacation in agony with back pains because the bed and pillows were so awful and uncomfortable that I couldn't sleep and my lower back was in constant spasms.
-The carpet to the stairs was pulling up at the front door entry - the carpet tack strip was exposed and I nearly tore my foot open on it twice.
-The AC units which must have been installed in 1984, have two speeds off and super ice blast - and they blow right on the bed. So we elected to not have AC instead of freezing to death. And they also sounded like a tractor trailer the humming noise they made was so loud.
-The bathrooms were just gross.

We stayed 3 nights after having spent a night at the Anchorage across the street. It was like night and day - we will never go back to Seacastles. Its a great location in our favorite spot in Ogunquit, but it is time for a serious overhaul and renovation to bring it up to par with its location and price.

We were booked at another location down the street for 2 nights. The smell on our suite at the other location was toxic therefore we could not stay the 2 nights as originally planned. We called Seacastles and they had a suite available. We stayed last night and we very pleased with the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of the staff . Our room overlooked Shore road and we felt like we were part of the action. The room was fine. The only complaint was the pull out sofa could have had a better mattress but we loved the location and the cleanliness. Thank you so much..

My husband and I love to visit Oqunquit for long weekends during the off season. Sandcastles is our go to place every time. I think we have stayed there at least 13 or more times in as many years. It is not a fancy place, but it is clean and comfy, with friendly staff, kitchenettes, and a pool. It is the location that keeps us coming back. It is right off the Marginal Way and about a ten minute walk to the beach. We like that we can park the car and walk everywhere or take the trolley. The prices are reasonable as well.

As previous review said, looks well maintained from the outside. Room inside was very dated with tired old furnishings. Smelled like wet dog. For $200 a night expected much better. Very small bathrooms, uncomfortable mattresses. In need of an update. Location not bad. Very near trolley stop and entrance to Marginal Way

I am very sorry that you were very disappointed with your accommodations. I see that Seacastles was recommended by one of our regular guests on the Ogunquit travel forum and that you obviously made your reservation due to that recommendation. Based on your assessment of bathroom size, I believe that you booked one of our studio units with one queen size bed, sofa bed and full kitchen. While the bathroom is not as large as some of our more spacious units such as our lofts, deluxe or penthouse rooms - they are not substandard in size for a hotel room. Since we do not accept pets and we do pride ourselves on immaculate housekeeping service, I do not understand your description of the "wet dog" smell. However, we would have been happy to have addressed that particular issue while you were in residence. Our mattresses are high quality Serta and are replaced on a regular basis. Mattress comfort is often a matter of personal subjectivity. Our room furnishings are also high quality, well maintained and replaced as needed. Again, we apologize for your unsatisfactory stay.

Made last minute arrangements at end of holiday weekend. Located in easy walking distance to town, beach and Perkins Cove. Directly opposite the northern entrance to the Marginal Way. Stayed (3) nights and room was clean and functional with full kitchen. Air conditioner was efficient but noisy and had to be turned off in order to slap. Pool and hot tubs were just ok. Showers were hit or miss as far as hot water availability. Housekeeping could be improved as far as completing rooms prior to noon. To the passers by the front porches look inviting but are the domain of those particular rooms. Bed and couch were comfortable. Much of the Inn is a time share. Pretty decent place for the price.

Room Tip: Rooms 104, 105 and 110 are on front and have nice porches for the early morning coffee or the evenin...

The resort is located in the heart I'd town right near the Marginal Way and in walking or trolley-riding distance to everything. We stayed there about 15 years ago and it was new and fresh and now it is pretty old and tired. The towels and sheets are nearly threadbare!

Nice stay at the Seacastles in Ogunquit.
We arrived at the hotel early, our room was not ready, that was just fine we just wanted to head to the beach. The FD staff was very friendly kept our cooler until we came back from the beach. Our studio was simple very clean; room’s are outdated but comfortable and very clean. Full kitchen and plenty of space in the studio. During our stay we used the hot tub also the grills available to the guest to cook, in case you don’t want to deal with the long wait at all the restaurants in Ogunquit during the summer.
If you don’t mind the outdated 90’s décor, great place to stay, for a long weekend or a week since all the rooms have full or partial kitchens. Great location, close to all the attractions in Ogunquit. Have fun!!

Room Tip: Use the pool and hot tub!
