We have been staying at this resort for 12 years and it is a trip we always look forward to in September. The rooms all have a balcony overlooking the Ogunquit River and the Ocean and the resort is right at the start of the Marginal Way. Your room includes a self service continental breakfast in their pleasant dining room (choice of two juices, hard boiled eggs, 4 cold and 1 hot cereal, oranges and bananas, bagels, English muffins, two or three breads for toasting, fresh made muffins - usually 4 to 6 varieties, and yogurt. This is served from 7 to 10 AM and coffee and tea are available from 6:30 am to 10 PM. There is a microwave in the diniing room for use by guests. There is a tennis court, lawn games, shuffleboard and a heated pool-usually till mid-September, and the beach is a short walk or you can drive there or take the trolley-$2 fee each way. Rooms are comfortable and vary from 2 doubles, queen and double to 1 king.
Toughest part is getting in. The greatest thing is once you stay you are guaranteed the same room for the same time next year. When you leave you are given a form to fill out (can do there or mail in later) that must be received by them by 10/31. They close Nov thru mid April. In January they take all those prior guest reservations and start putting them in their master planner. They then send out notices requiring a deposit by end of January. In early February you can then call in and check on availability for new guests to make reservations. That's how we got in the first time and we have been thoroughly pleased each year we have stayed since then.

We stayed 2 nights here. Right on the Marginal Way! We walked everywhere. All the people we encountered here were wonderful and helpful. Absolutely beautiful grounds!! If you are a flower lover (as I am) you will truly appreciate them as you walk down to the entrance to the marginal way. Also fresh flowers on your table for breakfast. Lovely!

We stayed in the Ireland house, room 88 at the Spar hawk for 3 nights and four days. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. This property is within walking distance to all the little shops and restaurants. The only drawback is because it is oceanfront, it looks like you can walk down to the beach. However, to get to the beach, it is about a 15 minute walk, and if it's high tide, there is no beach. We did sit by the pool for a day which is heated and very clean. The resort also provides a continental breakfast with homemade muffins and such. In addition, the staff was very friendly. We definitely will return to this resort and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The Ireland House had spacious suites.

Visited off season for one night. The room appointment was fantastic. Each queen bed had a leather bench at the foot of the bed for your luggage, ample room to move around, and the best part was the 2 club chairs facing the ocean view. Each room has their own balcony with one lounge and 2 chairs. We could have stayed on the balcony all day watching the waves roll below us, as this is one of few properties that directly abuts Oqunquit Beach....simply STUNNING! The bathroom was clean and our family of 5 really appreciated the sink/mirror being separate from the toilet/shower. The outdoor pool was heated and wonderful after the beach. The continental breakfast was lovely and had plenty of choices and the staff were amazing. Can't wait to return next year in the Fall.

We recently stayed at The Sparhawk in Ogunquit Maine and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and could not do enough for us. We had a minor issue with our remote control for the tv and they fixed the problem within a few minutes of our request. Breakfast is included and the home made muffins smell delicious when you go to the dining area and are warm out of the oven and very tasty. It is quiet and peaceful and the best part is sitting in your room in the morning watching the sun rise. The sound of the waves and the wonderful sea breeze is also very relaxing. Being so close to town you are able to walk to restaurants, the beach and stores which is also convenient especially with the traffic. You really do not have to use your car once you park in the lot. A really nice place.

Room Tip: The oceanfront rooms are the best.
