“Pleasant stay in Ogunquit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

We spent a night at the Gorges Grant Hotel in early July. The staff was very pleasant, the room was clean and comfortable and we particularly liked the location of the hotel, as it is just a short stroll from downtown Ogunquit.

Guests can also opt to take a trolley into downtown Ogunquit/Perkins Cove, which stops right outside the hotel. Another bonus is free parking for hotel guests.

My only complaint was a weird smell in the hallways of the hotel.

I would definitely stay here again.

My mother, sister and I just stayed here for 5 days. We have been coming here every year for the past 15 years and I absolutely LOVE this hotel. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the rooms are exceptionally clean. They just renovated the rooms which are just lovely. I cannot say enough about this hotel as it is excellent. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

My college age daughter and I had a very nice experience here in early July. We arrived late, and the security man met us for check in. The rooms are large and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is also large and well equipped. The decorating is fine. The style of the rooms appears to be "Whatever happened to be on sale that day." rather a "mash-up[" of genres. The hotel and restaurant staff are extremely helpful and accommodating, The indoor and outdoor pools were nice to have at the end of an afternoon, as was the hot tub. We used both as the beginning of our triip had ery cool weather and the end was hot. This was all in a six day span The backgammon and chess tables in the lobby are very popular among families..
The location is great. We walked to Foot bridge beach, down main street , onto main Shore Road and beach and Perkins Cove. We walked Marginal Way every day. .this is a spectacularly beautiful town with many great sights to pass by and enjoy. We rarely moved the car form the hotel lot. this was my first visit to Ogunquit, and I fell in love. I much prefer it to the more commercial Kennebunkport.

Finally, you never have to eat a bad meal in Ogunquit. The are a multitude of wonderful restaurants, unlike any small town i have ever visited. From MC Perkins Cove, to Preggo and Angelina's among others we ate like royalty.

Gorges Grant is a great jumping off point and a relaxing place to which to return.

Room Tip: We had Room 102 right at the front of the house, and it was great. It does front Main Street which i...

Our stay at Gorges Grant Hotel was enjoyable primarily because our room in the totally separate but recently renovated King Charles Building was spacious--offerring plenty of storage, and was tastefully decorated. Sinks located both in the bathroom and just outside it made getting ready in the morning an efficient experience. The emplyees at the check-in desk were pleasant and helpful as was the hostess at Raspberri's, the in-house restaurant. Only ate there once for breakfast but meal and service were enjoyable. Outdoor pool offerred a private and relaxing setting. A clean indoor pool and large hot tub are also available. The many addirondack chairs and tables situated around the two hotel buildings and colorful landscaping gave the hotel a nice homey touch. I gave the hotel a 4 out of 5 rating primarily because of location to downtown Ogunquit and Perkins Cove. We did a lot of walking back and forth. We did see trollies but they didn't seem to stop as frequent as mentioned in previous posts. If you have any sort of physical limitations or young childen, the location of the hotel may present an inconvenience. One final note regarding the restaurant MC Perkins Cove listed on the "Guest Favorites" provided by Gorges Grant. Looking for a fine dining experience with a nice costal view to celebrate my husband's birthday, we selected MC Perkins but unfortunately we were totally underwhelmed by our dining experience, not to mention there was no valet parking which meant we had to pay an additional $12 for parking. Even though we had resevations, nicely made by someone at Gorges, we ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes for a seating because the hostess mistakenly gave our table away to someone else and crossed our name off the list. Food was not highly satisfying either. In particulr the clam chowder was more of a bisque with a couple of clams in a shell provided for effect. Should note that management did take chowder off the bill but still would suggest Gorges' takes this particular restaurant off its Guest Favorite list.

Room Tip: Be aware that there are two separate buildings. Although not far apart you do need to walk outside...

We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. We had a premium room with lots of space. The breakfasts at Raspberri were superb as was the service. We asked for a room on the first floor and it was given us with no fuss or bother. See trolley note below.

Room Tip: Being near a trolley stop was perfect as the traffic in Ogunquit was horrific.

Had reservations for one night following a long week of college visits. Arrived to a beautiful room, extremely helpful and accommodating staff, and great advice for our short stay. Had such a great day that we took a shot to see if we could get another night on short notice. The front desk staff was able to come through, moving our luggage for us to the new room while we enjoyed the beautiful beach. Had breakfast at Raspberris and it was fabulous. The hotel was on the trolley route which is really convenient. The walk to town was also quite reasonable. We would love to come back and would stay at the Gorges Grant. Thanks for helping us make some great Maine memories!

This was my first visit and I was not sure what to expect. What I didn't expect was HOT temps - hotter than in Texas! Unfortunately for us, we hit the big NE heat wave of 2013! The drive in to Ogunquit is pretty bad - one lane road in and lots of traffic- but that's pretty typical of seaside resort towns. Gorges Grant is a beautiful hotel! We had an end room on the second floor (218) and it was lovely and huge! A/C worked fabulously! The shower was the best ever - great pressure! Staff was very friendly and helpful! I had thought it was closer to the beach and "downtown" but we found the walk or trolley service to be easy. Trolley stop is right in front of the hotel and we never had to wait more than a few minutes - it costs $1.50 per person per ride. The walk is only about 10 minutes tops and since parking in town is $10-20 (depending on the day) it's totally worth it to walk. The road is busy and the sidewalk a little narrow so I would recommend taking the trolley late at night coming home. Back to the hotel - the room was huge, mini frig in the room was very helpful, coffee was great, chairs on the front lawn to relax, etc. We didn't eat at Rasberries ($$) but it seems to be a big draw. There is no bar so bring your own. Overall, we totally enjoyed our stay! It's a little expensive but very pleasant.

Room Tip: 218 is facing East so if not an early riser, ask for one on the back side.
