Description: Established in 1931 the Ogunquit Lobster Pound has been proudly serving the best Maine lobster for generations. Choose your own live lobster to be boiled in seawater in the traditional Maine fashion or try one of the many offerings from our full menu. Now in our 87th year, we continue our traditions of consistency, quality, and exceptional service. We eagerly look forward to another season of satisfied customers both new, and those who have been returning for years.

We have been coming to Ogunquit for more than 50 years and have traveled extensively on business. This is the only place where we will order lobster or steamers, because they are unexcelled.

The OLP was the first lobster restaurant in Maine and has been run as a family business for years. The staff is cheery and competent, and the food is excellent. The steamers have been washed under pressure and have no sand. The lobsters are cooked perfectly and split skillfully and purposefully so that you never need nutcrackers. Unlike many specialty lobster restaurants, the menu has a variety of other well-prepared dishes. I usually get lobster but have tried other plates, including swordfish, and all have been very good. The blueberry deep dish pies are a tradition and a treat.

I have read a few reviewers who complained about the price of lobsters. Perhaps they are forgetting that lobstering is dangerous business, done by fishermen who trap the lobsters and harvest their traps year-round in all weather; the lobsters are not raised in herds or picked in crops. Restauranteurs, and those who enjoy this delicacy, must cope with those facts.

I encourage you to try this special restaurant.

Very quaint historic spot for lobstah. A cool experience where you go outside and choose your lobster from the tank and they steam it to perfection for you and bring it to your table! The lobster was fantastic as were the appetizers!

We had dinner here our first night in ogunquit. I got the baked haddock, fish was fresh but not baked as well as i've had in other places. The cole slaw was really good. Boyfriend got the lobster tail dinne which came with 2 lobster tails, They looked to be a decent size but when u crack them open they were tiny. But he did say they were very good. He got the lobster roll to go for later and he said it was very good, lobster was fresh and didn't taste fishy at all. The wait staff were all very nice and the service was fast. Not a lot of waiting. I would go back and try something else on the menu.

Boiled lobster & steamers are the way to go! Lobster is sweet, tender, perfectly cooked & cracked making it easy to enjoy without being too messy. The staff is always friendly & eager to help while selecting your lobster outside.

Steamers & the boiled lobster is the way to go when dining here. The lobster is very fresh, cooked to perfection, cracked and ready to eat without having to fight for your food. Young, friendly staff both inside & out. The ambiance is nothing to write home about but the star here is the fresh Maine lobster. Expect to pay $75/person for dinner, but well worth every buttery bite.
