Description: Enjoy lobster, steamers, lobster rolls, chowder and a whole lot more in a friendly, casual atmosphere. Live lobsters caught by local lobstermen wait in tanks filled with ocean water coming straight from the cove. Choose your size and two sides. For all the taste without the work, have a lobster roll any way you like it...a quarter pound single, double-stuffed, triple, or an entire pound on a buttery toasted roll with or without mayo. The lobster wrap and lobster BLT are also recently added favorites. Homemade chowder made from an old family recipe is a great way to start your meal, there's no thickening flour just the perfect combination of clams, fish, potatoes, onions and spices in a milk and cream base. The "Shack" has been owned and operated by the Evans family since the 1980s and is proud to serve the hottest chowder and the coldest beer in town. Let Jason, his family and his crew provide you with a true Maine eating experience in the oldest restaurant in Perkins Cove...

Dining at the Lobster Shack felt like a truly authentic experience, particularly since it's located in Ogunquit's ritzier/more touristy Perkin's Cove neighborhood. This is truly a family business, with the owner's adorable children serving and bussing tables with smiles on their faces. I was served the coldest and coldest lobster roll of our entire trip, which was wonderful considering we had just walked the Marginal Way in 80 degree weather. The owner personal came to check on every single table as soon as their was a break in the line, which at times was out the door. Lovely experience!

My wife and I have been going to Ogunquit for many years, but this is the first time we dined at the Lobster Shack. We tried it after reading the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. I'm glad we did!
It's a hidden gem in Perkins Cove and I can't wait to go back to the Lobster Shack again next year.
P. S. Everyone working at the "LS" - Keep up the excellent job! It's rare to find good/friendly service these days!

There are two restaurants called Lobster Shack in Maine. One is called "The Lobster Shack" and then there's this one. So it can get confusing. We tried both and I would have to say that they both have their good and bad.

We ordered the lobster roll and clam chowder.

First the good. Their lobster roll was easily the best one we had during our recent trip to Maine. It was stuffed to the gills and the seasoning was just right. The bread was nice and soft.

And the bad. Their clam chowder was really nothing to write home about. It was about as bland as it could be and it was very soupy.

The place is way out of the way. Also, parking is difficult and we had to be patient as we waited for a spot to open up. The area where this restaurant is located has lots of little quaint shops and restaurants. I wish we had known about it so that we could have spent more time exploring the area.

This is a place for locals. My husband and I were definitely intimidated when we arrived. It's a small shack. You order at the counter, pay up front, and then find your own table. Chances are you'll be sitting with others, community style. Its fast paced but don't be scared. The staff was very friendly. You pick your lobster and sides and they cook it fresh. Delicious!

Had large lobsters- they were cooked well, but lacked sweetness in their taste- not sure why. Also they were a bit tough. Don't think this is fault of restaurant probably. Staff helpful, seating very casual-picnic benches. Their prices might be a bit steep as we saw many lobster specials advertised at other restaurants.
