A group of eight old friends met at the Sea Chambers Motel, Ogunquit for a few days of “friending”. We each had different location in the motel and we were all pleased with our rooms. Room 4 was huge by current motel standards. We all met in room 4 for snacks and drinks before dinner. The couple in room 5 also was pleased with their room, but it was not as large 4. Another two had a room upstairs, but we did not see that one, they were pleased with it, however. My husband and I had room 37. We were very pleased with that room and had six of the group over for the afternoons sitting watching the ocean from our room’s windows. There was a nice deck right in front of our room where we visited for a while but it was April and the weather some days were “iffy”, so we moved to our room for the view, drinks, and snacks.
If you follow my reviews there are two important issues I focus on. One is cleanness and the other smell of the rooms where we stay. The rooms we visited were as spotless as our room. No “cover up” smells used to hide stuff that should just be cleaned. Every day the housekeeping staff was excellent at cleaning and I loved that we had clean sheets and towels every day.( I disagree with the “green” notes and not changing sheets everyday in other hotels…unless they are giving me a discount for the room the nights they don’t give clean sheets and towels. So…I was pleased with clean sheets and towels daily.) The room at first had a “musty” smell but windows open and fresh air inside… that left quickly and never returned. There is an AC unit in the room… we did not use it. We had a King, two nice chairs for sitting, a small table. A ¾ high room divider separates the bedroom from the dressing and bath area. A desk, small refrig. and microwave in the room. We looked around… the best room with a view would be “18” if available, but we were very pleased with our view. Our friends in 4 and 5 did not have the view we had. We did pay more for the view, but their rooms were just as comfortable as ours.
Breakfast was served free! The setting for breakfast is very interesting, There is a lot to look at on the walls and around the room. It is a combination of gift shop with tables. We all loved it. The serving staff were friendly and the display of baked goods was really great for a free breakfast. I had a homemade corn bread one morning and a beautiful “berry” bread another. Breakfast is served with grace and charm. There are no eggs and such, but nice opportunities to have genteel coffee and tea in the morning before you travel out for the brunch at another location. The atmosphere is restful and friendly. As a group, we met in waves, each couple arriving at their leisure to plan our day’s activities. It was another positive point for the ownership of this establishment.
We enjoyed our days at Sea Chambers in Ogunquit. The staff and front desk were very friendly and helpful. Good friends, good location, relaxing time, Sea Chambers Motel is a great choice for Ogunquit. Naturally… Summer will bring other issues…crowds…but on the other side, also warmer weather.
