“the beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2012

Our room was just across from Ogunquit Beach where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Watching the tides come in and out is quite mesmerizing. Nothing negative to say.

“Clean water”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2012

Being from Massachusetts, I really loved seeing the water so clean and clear. No seaweed! I would recommend bringing a tube with you to enjoy the lazy river. I wish I did! The water is cold but not too cold. I found it refreshing! Big stretch of beach too!

“Great Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2012

It's a great beach, very clean but gets crowded at high tide. Some planning is in order to maximize satisfaction.

“Beautiful and popular (crowded)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2012

This has been on several lists of the most beautiful beaches in the US. It is accordingly crowded in the summer and you do need to pay for parking. My suggestions for maximizing your experience is to anticipate the crowds in season. I would try to get there as early in the day, or then again later in the day. There are three parking lots. The main lot is the largest, the beach area in front of it, the most crowded. Try walking to the left and the crowd starts to thin out. The other two lots are north, smaller and have access to less crowded beach. I think all three lots stop charging after 4 pm although Route One traffic can be very heavy later in the day. All three lots can fill up by about 11am, but then open up again later in the day. Check out the town websites or tourist office for exact locations and charges.

“Beach Day!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2012

Oqunquit Beach is a "perfect" beach in that the sand is soft, there are no rocks when walking into the water (Cape Cod) and the view is beautiful. The negative is that you can't find a spot to sit that isn't on top of everyone else.

We had a great time at the beach, but it was so crowded you could hear everyones conversation around you. The water is also freezing cold, but that's to be expected at the beach in Maine in July.

If you are bringing anything, a cooler, stroller, etc. all of the entrances to the beach are ramps which makes it a bit easier to bring what you need.
