“Perfection”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

Beyond the GORGEOUS main beach area, the area is vast and has many private little beach areas and coves. The entire beach is immaculate and all soft sand. There are safe areas for children to play in shallow, wave-free water, close to the beach area, but away from any crowds. Water is chilly, but you find yourself wanting to swim because the water is so pristine. It is no wonder why it is always voted one of the best beaches!

“A Little Chilly, but Very Beautiful”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

We tend to go North just before season, so the water was still a bit too cold. We did have wonderful walks on the beach, the family loved it.

“Very large at low tide”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

I rate this as a very good beach because there are not lots of choices. Don't expect the large sandy beaches on the eastern US. But this is nice at low tide. Water is cold. There are a number of shops right at the beach for snacks, etc. Parking is $25. However there is a shuttle you can take for $2 and you can bring your beach chairs and small coolers. There is also a covered area with chairs and benches next to the parking lot.

“Gorgeous but water is painfully cold”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Stunning beach but water is ice cold in July!! Love the tidal pools and sand bars. The beach was free. Parking was $25 but worth it. You need a mallet to hammer in your beach umbrella because the sand is hard but that makes it easy to walk on.

“Clean, Pretty Beach”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Compared to the beaches I am used to in NY/NJ, Ogunquit Beach is quiet, peaceful, and much cleaner. This isn't to say it isn't crowded---it certainly was on a nice day---but finding a place wasn't hard, and no one was getting in the way of anyone else.

The proximity of the beach to good shopping and restaurants is great, with lots of stellar options within a short walk from the water. The Marginal Way also leads here, if you start off in Perkins Cove.

To save money on parking, park further away. Some of the lots on the other end of Ogunquit, a bit further from the beach, will charge only $10-$15, instead of $25.

Also, the tides are very noticeable here. Much of the beach will vanish over the course of the day as the tide rolls in. Be sure to grab a spot towards the back of the beach earlier in the day, or risk getting waterlogged later on.
