We looked at several room choices and decided to stay in the newer units with big windows and doors facing the river. There are rooms above, but there is no opening to the street, so noise is at a minimum. We are birdwatchers, so were out early in the gazebo and lawn area and counted about 15 species in a short time. The rooms are like someone's home, so we forgot for 2 days we were really in a motel. The kerig coffee maker was a treat, but we wish there was some breakfast or toast provided with the coffee. There is an excellent breakfast restaurant a little up the road toward Ogunquit, and a delicious bakery right in the town area. We loved the mint green sheets and towels and the new, immaculate carpets, flooring and, of course, the rocking chairs.

Room Tip: The rooms on the left (facing the motel) are single level, a little older, with very large windows f...

My twelve-year-old daughter and I stayed at the Towne Lyne over the weekend at the very beginning of May 2014 with plans to visit Ogunquit and York. We visited at the very, very beginning of the season. This motel was beautifully clean and the grounds were immaculate. The 'homey' atmosphere (gliding rocking chairs, lovely cotton blankets) detracts absolutely nothing from this cute place's attention to detail and style. The seating area behind the Towne Lyne was gorgeous; we slept with the windows open, listening to the river. From the screen door to the pretty fish decals on the floor of the tub and the seashell shaped pedestal sink in Room 6 where we were, this is the place to be for a casual family retreat. Footbridge Beach and a dozen different places to eat, obtain fast snacks, and get gas are within a minute from the front door. We locked ourselves out of our room not once, but TWICE - but the hosts were gracious, full of local tourist information, and a pleasure from check-in to check-out.

A personal note: my daughter had some precious items with her that she kept in her bed .. Every time we returned to the room after being out, they were arranged thoughtfully on top of her blankets. Instead of chocolates, one afternoon they left her a tube of M&Ms. Planning to stay again as soon as possible! Thank you, Towne Lyne!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6 - it was a quiet end unit and suited us .. but when you book, if you're inte...

Superb location easy in and out very clean and quiet. We changed our plans several times and they accommodated us each time. Will return again and recommend to others. The sitting area out back along the river was awesome. We've travelled by this motel for years and alays said someday we will stay there, we did for 10 lovely days during fall foliage.

Room Tip: Very clean and very quiet. We changed our plans several times prior to arrival they were most accomm...

I base my reviews on value for money and what i was expecting to get. Stayed here for a weekend at the end of October having flown into Boston from the UK and was after a pit stop on our road trip around New England. Ideally place no more than 90 minutes from Boston airport and that was me dawdling and staying off the interstate. Yes we sayed there out of season as most places had shut for the winter but £80 in total for the two nights for me and my wife was as cheap as chips. Charming little place and clean as a whistle as mentioned by others. At the far end of Town but easy access to everywhere.
For British readers or those who like to leave your car behind and have a bite to eat and a beer. The nearest place is literally 150 metres away,Stutesy's Pub and Grille which is classified as being in Way and not Ogunquit. Again I base this on what we paid in comparison to other places on our trip but we found the food to be superb so much so we went there twice. Nice atmosphere in the place to. Word of warning though even though it was very close there was no pavement and would recommend you take a torch so you can be seen by the traffic as in one section of the road it is very narrow and the road can be busyish!!
If I was travelling in the area again I would definately return to the Towne Lyne Motel

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit Oct. 8-11! We had the end room in front, and to repeat what everyone says, the room was perfectly clean and so nicely decorated. It was decorated as nicely as the more costly bed-and -breakfasts you will find in this area. Yes, the glider rockers were my favorite part of the room. We had a minor need for a repair, and I reported it and it was fixed when we got back. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the grounds are beautifully kept. We have stayed in York and Wells almost every year since 1971, and this lovely motel will certainly be a place we will stay at again.

Room Tip: I liked the room on the end front, but some of the back rooms have little patios overlooking the riv...

We stayed here for 1 night in October. Our room was extremely clean, and cutely decorated. We had a little porch off the back of our room, which you're not allowed to smoke on, so that's good news for the non smokers or people sensitive to tobacco smell. When we checked in around 10pm, we were greeted by barking dogs, which to me was a welcome sound. Very easy, friendly check in. Beautiful little river running behind the building with gazebos (you can smoke in those) nearby. In the room, there is a coffee maker (only enough for 2 cups), and good pressure in the shower head. Hard bed. Old zenith radio. Flat screen cable tv. It looks like a motor in from the outside (although nice) which usually scares me, but this is great. We paid $64, but in the summer time would happily pay twice that. We liked it.

We stayed there in September 2013. We found the place to be very clean. The owner was very accomodating. We used it as our base for a couple days in order to tour the area. Our room was in the back near a small river. The grounds are very well landscaped and provided with patio areas that allowed us to have our breakfast in a very pleasant surrounding. We are happy to recommend this place.
