While the hotel was clean and well kept, the decor was very 50's. There were no covers for the blankets so you had the same blanket the guest before you had. The pillows were a matted down disgrace and the breakfast consisted of some poor quality muffins and bread wrapped in saran wrap, fruit and beverages. People were very pleasant and helpful and the view was nice. Would I stay again and the answer is NO. There has to be something better for $200.00.

We were here 9/13-15. We have stayed here many times and always have a nice experience. This is a 2 diamond AAA property and the rooms are exactly that: simple, basic & clean. Nice thick bath towels and soaps. There is also an extra bath sink and small fridge. Very nice grounds with a terrific view of the ocean.

Room Tip: Stay in the 2 story units to the left of the office building

We chose this location because of its proximity to the beach and the center of town. It was a short walk to the beach down the footpath and across the bridge, as well as an equally short walk to the nearby restaurants, and the market and bars on Route 1. They have a row of chairs on the lawn overlooking where the river flows into the ocean and the end of the beach. Their breakfast area and terrace have the same nice view. The breakfast was not low carb friendly. The wireless internet worked perfectly: you get a different pass code for each device. The parking spaces are numbered by room number and are close to your room so you may have to spend some time finding your space as the numbers seem to jump around. All in all, it was a good value for our shoulder season visit.

We chose this spot to enjoy beautiful Ogunquit, and I'm not sure that we could have been more pleased. Terrace is located where the Ogunquit River meets the ocean, so views of the changing tides, the beach, and the ocean were right outside our window! Our suite was comfortable, the complimentary breakfast was satisfying and it's seating was in view of the ocean and beautiful gardens. Shops, restaurants, the beach, and best of all - the marginal Way - were all within walking distance. We would definitely return here!

Room Tip: We paid extra for an ocean view suite, and would gladly do it again for the beautiful view and pleas...

Terrace by the Sea is conveniently situated for your stay in Oqunquit. It is only a couple of blocks to the town's many restaurants and shops. With a stunning view of the ocean and tidal pool at your doorstep, you may take a walking path directly to the wide sandy beach for a morning walk. If you walk a couple of blocks in the other direction, a beautiful flower-lined path will lead you to the famous Marginal Way, a well paved bluff overlooking some of the most stunning Maine coastal scenery you will see. There are crashing waves, boulders, inlets, jetties, and rock piles assembled by visitors, a kind of right of passage here. Undoubtedly, sailboats, lobster boats and other vessels will appear, as will local surfers looking for that perfect wave. There are convenient benches along the way for you to take that perfect picture.

We stayed in a roomy cathedral ceiling room with a loft which contained a convertible sofa, a second t.v. and two soft chairs. The thin sofa bed mattress was not very comfortable, but the two queens were very comfortable. The sofa bed may work for a small child, but is not adequate for an adult. There were two sinks, one outside the bathroom which makes it convenient for two people. The room had a mini refrigerator and a coffee maker. The main room had a good sized flat screen, and there is a good selection of cable stations.

Terrace by the Sea offers a self-serve continental buffet in the main building each morning. It has bagels, breads, mini-muffins, cereals, and a nice assortment of fresh fruit including cantaloupe, honey dew melon, watermelon, strawberries, kiwi fruit, pineapple, fresh apples and bananas. There was also yogurt, orange juice, coffee and an assortment of teas. There is also coffee and tea available in the main lobby all day. There are no hot dishes, eggs or meats however.

The pool was heated and available in mid September. The grass is very green and there are many nice flowers on the grounds. You park in a numbered space and forget about it for the rest of your stay, as you may walk to most of the nearby attractions.

Room Tip: Second floor has the best ocean views.

We have stayed at the Terrace for 25 years or more, through different management and trying times, just after the 9/11 tragedy, storms and slow economy. There has never been one instance when we've encountered poor service or less than the best attitudes.
We always stay in one of the efficiencies in front of the main house. They are pricey, but they afford the best views, a fully stocked kitchenette, comfortable beds and a good bathroom. These efficiencies have to be booked at least three to four months before your stay.
Our favorite times of the year are early spring, before Memorial Day, and late summer, after Labor day. Why? Because the crowds thin out, stores and restaurants are still open and the beach is still really welcoming, if a bit nippy on occasion. The York beaches and the wonderful zoo is still open, although the opening times are altered a tad. Walking the Marginal Way couldn't be more inviting; with fewer folks jamming the walk, you can see the true grandeur that is the Maine coast. The best time for walking is 6:00 to 7:30 a.m., and then 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., both for the ease of walking and the splendid skies, dawn and dusk. And if you're lucky, you'll get a great fog!
The Terrace is also located centrally to a number of restaurants and many dress, souvenir, craft shops, and galleries, which are easily walkable. There's a trolley stop on Shore Road, just a block or so, distancewise, from the inn. Perkins Cove is a picturesque walk as well, either via the Marginal Way or following Shore Road.
The Terrace has acquired another property adjacent to its original, which has no view of the ocean but is right on the beach path, so you just walk a little way and you have the entire vista before you. Parking on the entire property is convenient, but only one slot for each rental.
Give it a shot, if you can get a reservation! It's well worth the early preparation.

Room Tip: If you want a front full-beach view, call early for one of the few efficiencies located in a separat...

The Terrace By The Sea is our favorite, that is why we come back so many times. There are so many options when staying here. We usually stay in the side motel ( updated rooms) clean, modern, with newer bathroom, flat screen tv, small refrigerator, 2 beds or king, depending which room. A new addition to these rooms is safes, in closet area, nice added touch. Also, when we returned from shopping, there was a towel shaped into a heart placed on our bed, I loved it! Thank You, to whoever did it. The front lawn overlooks the ocean and we love sitting out on the lawn, relaxing, reading, etc. walk over to the center, shop, and get something to eat, it's close to everything, love it! The continental breakfast is perfect for our needs, and always well appointed, sit outside or in. Someday we might actually stay inside the Inn itself! Maybe next time.......great job Terrace by the Sea!
