Had the most delicious Neal set Caffe Prego tonight. The spinach salad with blueberries, figs, toasted almonds and figs was amazing. Dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette, it was unbelievably good. The baked eggplant sandwich was cooked perfectly, as was the steak and Brie.

This place is fun, reasonably priced with delicious food. I would highly recommend it.

Thank you for your "outstanding" review on Trip Advisor prompted by your recent visit to Caffe Prego. The salad you enjoyed was the salad of the day, which is always an inventive and delicious combination. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed several of the baked sandwiches, items that we added to the menu several seasons ago to great success. We look forward to the pleasure of serving you again soon.

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Ever. It started with us sitting down and the staff telling us that they didn't have any pasta tonight (this is an Italian restaurant), but OK, I understand, their stove went out and this happens. So basically Pizza was the only option. I asked what they could substitute for a kids meal (since all the kids meals were pasta). They said, nothing. I asked if we could get a kids pizza and they said no. So we would have to pay $15 for our 5 year old to have a whole pizza because their stoves were out? So, we ordered pizza, which took an hour to come to our table (since everyone else in the restaurant was forced to order pizza too I assume). This is hardly acceptable with a hungry 5 year old. Lastly, our waiter was horrible. He never checked on us, didn't clear our food, didn't bring us our bill (I had to get up and ask for it). I am always a good tipper (I believe in tipping), I usually always leave 20%, but this was the first time I have ever felt the desire to leave no tip at all. We still left something, but I really didn't want to, it was that bad. I left this place very angry- this meal was the catalyst to finally joining tripadvisor because I needed to share this with the world. AVOID THIS PLACE.

First, thank you for “sharing with the world” that the day that you came to dine with us, our stove was out of service. I am hopeful you feel better. That said, allow me this opportunity to provide clarity to a few points that you state as fact. Indeed for 1 ½ hours during service on the day that you joined us, from 4:45pm to 6:15pm our stove was being repaired. Unfortunately, we have little control over the rare occasion when a piece of equipment breaks down and when the service techs are available to come and repair it. In this instance, the equipment repair professionals quickly responded to the call and brought the necessary part. Our quick response and attention to detail allowed the stove to be repaired all within 1 ½ hours from the time it broke down.

During that time, we were transparent and did the right thing by informing our guests when they sat down that our stove was being repaired, a situation of which was out of our control, and that our pastas would not be available until the repair was complete. Everything else on our menu was available. That includes our fantastic fresh salads, popular Panini and baked sandwiches (prepared in our brick oven) and our large selection of tasty, award winning brick oven pizza. This left guests with nearly 30 other options to choose from in addition a wide variety of pizza selections. Most of our guests were very gracious and understanding of our dilemma, you apparently were not.

Anyone in the restaurant business knows very well that having a piece of equipment go down during a busy day is not something any business owner wants. When a situation like this occurs we do everything we can to accommodate our guests. The reason that we advised our guests of the situation with our stove when they arrived was to give them an opportunity to decide, after looking over our other menu choices, if something else on the menu appealed to them. And if not, no hard feelings – guests are encouraged and are welcome to give us another opportunity later in the evening or on another day when the full menu is available.

From your review, it would appear that you did look at the menu, saw the other menu options available and elected to stay. Your comment about forcing people to eat a particular dish is simply unwarranted and I am confident that other readers will agree. Really, force someone to eat something that they don’t want? How exactly does that work? Guests are not “forced” to stay, or pick something on the menu that doesn’t appeal to them as your review suggests. Again, typically when one selects a restaurant to dine at, one reviews the menu either before going to the restaurant or once they arrive. If one doesn’t see something appealing, one decides not to dine at the restaurant.

Regarding the pizza pricing, if you paid $15.00 for a pizza for your child as your review states, then you elected to buy something other than a plain cheese pizza which is offered on our menu for $11.50 ($2.75 more than our Kids Pasta). Our pizzas are all one size (therefore we do not have a “kid’s pizza”) and our menu offerings are appealing to people of all ages including children. Pasta is one of those offerings; others are brick oven pizza and Panini.
Regarding attention to our younger guests and what has made Café Prego a favorite of so many parents with young children is that our mantra here at Caffé Prego is that we go out of our way to take care of our younger diners because we believe - “if they are happy everyone is happy”. We have therefore trained all of our staff to serve bread, butter and olive oil to all of our younger diners when they sit while waiting for food. Additionally, we have more than a dozen coloring books, crayons, toys and other items available to keep children occupied while their meal is being prepared. I am certain that this was the case in your situation. All of our servers have been with us for the entire summer and know well how to take care of all of our guests and particularly our younger ones.

Each evening in the summer we have no fewer than 4 servers, a food runner, a bus person, two hosts, a manager and a cashier all in our dining area attending to guests. It is unimaginable that you were unable to find someone to inquire of the status of your order, but rather sit for an hour interacting with no one until your pizza arrived.

As you can see from the abundance of very positive reviews your experience is not shared with others who have chosen to dine with us and thoroughly enjoyed their entire experience. It is unfortunate that you didn’t feel the same way as the countless others who have. Our reputation is sound and extends beyond the Town of Ogunquit. I can assure you that many people who know the owners throughout the world and who have experienced the Caffé will find your review uncharacteristic of the culture at Caffé Prego.

Caffe Prego is our favorite place to have dinner In Ogunquit!!. We have eaten there at least six times this summer. The waitstaff and barristas are the best. We especially love Kendall!! She works behind the delicious gelato, desserts and coffee bar...She lets our kids sample their favorite gelato and always has a smile on her face. She makes the most delicious rootbeer floats and Shirley Temples!! The food is delicious at Caffe Prego. We especially enjoy the Caprese Salad and Pizza Bianco. My yongest son loves the pasta. They also have really nice live music on the weekends. If you love pizza, pasta, sandwiches or delicious Italian entres then you have to try Caffe Prego!! Just the best!

Thank you for your glowing review on Trip Advisor; with all of the great spots in the area, how wonderful to hear that the Caffe is your favorite spot in Ogunquit. You managed to touch upon many of the favorites at the Caffe; the gelato, the pizza, the cappuccino. Thank you for recognizing one of the unsung heroes of the Caffe, the many baristas who scoop gelato and make wonderful coffee drinks. We look forward to seeing you at your favorite place again soon.

Enjoyed a friend's birthday at Cafe Prego Ogunquit on the night of Thursday, 8/14. We did not make a reservation and arrived at peak time. Although informed of a 30 minute wait we were in fact seated on the front patio in merely 10 minutes. Our server Marlon gave us excellent, courteous and cheerful service, and we enjoyed the excellent pizza del giorno (a succulent sausage thin crust pizza), which proved so abundantly delectable and memorable that we found ourselves grinning ear-to-ear from the savory flavors. We also thoroughly enjoyed the delightful chilled watermelon soup, and the eggplant lasagna wowed. Although valiant in our efforts to clean our plates, we could muster no strength (or room) and passed on the desserts. All of the attendant staff proved delightful, professional, and polite to us from the busing staff to the hosts. Upon our next trip to Ogunquit we look forward to a return trip to the Cafe Prego!

We were a party of 4 with quick seating even those they were very busy. Had a baked haddock with a linguini and topped off the meal with a mix of gelatos, sea salt caramel and dark chocolate.

Thank you for your visit to Caffe Prego, and for your wonderful review on Trip Advisor. You enjoyed one of our entree favorites at the Caffe, the haddock piccata, something we added to the menu several years ago to resounding success. We are pleased you enjoyed the gelato (that sounds like a delicious combo). We make all of our gelatos in house, and one of our owners studied at "Gelato University" located in Bologna, Italy. We look forward to the opportunity to delight you once again
