“Lovely Hospitality”
Reviewed 6 November 2009

My husband and I spent 1 night at the Yardarm Village Inn in October. Although it was the end of the season, Bev and Scott made us feel like home. We enjoyed talking with them. The muffins were delicious! These innkeepers have perfected the art of hospitality! My only complaint - the weather was unusually cold so we couldn't walk from the Inn to Perkins Cove. Despite that, we had a wonderful time.

Nice location and within walking distance to the little downtown section and Perkins Cove. The hosts, Bev and Scott, are very personable and make excellent blueberry muffins for breakfast. They have a very impressive selection of really reasonably priced wine, so plan on picking up a good $10 - $15 a bottle of wine from them and sitting outside to enjoy the evening. They also had a very nice selection of cheese and crackers that we added to our happy hour. The common interior spaces are nicely decorated. The rooms we stayed in are very simple and uncluttered, but comfortable. The bathrooms are very small but very clean and well maintained. We usually stay at B&B’s when we travel and found the Yardarm to be a really good dollar value.

I will start this review by admitting that our room was pretty small and the shower nearly impossible to shave your legs in. Yet I still believe that this inn deserves the five stars that I have rated it, and here's why:

-The house was built in something like 1892. The fact that all of the rooms at this inn have their own bathrooms is a HUGE plus; many b & b's that are located in old houses make you share bathrooms with other guests (I ran into this a few times when trying to find the right place for our trip to Ogunquit). The room wasn't so small that it was uncomfortable, and although the shower was a bit tight, the water pressure was good and the water itself was hot, so I don't feel that there is much to complain about there.

-The proprietors are friendly and helpful, but not intrusive as some b & b owners can be.

-For the price ($125/night plus tax), the location (walking distance to all major Ogunquit attractions, but not on the main part of Shore Road or Main Street, which made for a quiet yet extremely convenient stay) and the fact that you get a light breakfast (muffins, juice, tea, coffee) is exceptional. Some friends were in Ogunquit the same weekend and they paid $160/night for a regular old hotel room that wasn't within walking distance of any of the major attractions and of course didn't offer breakfast at all.

-We were happy to take advantage of the $25 per person, 2 hour sailboat ride with Scott, one of the proprietors. It was absolutely amazing and a perfect way to start our vacation!

-The wine, cheese, and gift shop on premise was a huge plus. In fact, it is what sold me on the property in the first place and we loved being able to purchase a bottle of wine and enjoy it while relaxing on the beautiful, wide front porch.

I will say that parking spots are VERY tight, I would avoid driving an SUV or minivan up there.

What a lovely, quiet spot! Complete with a bubbling waterfall, wide typical New England front porch, this B&B is in walking distance to everything desirable in Ogunquit. The owners keep the breakfast simple - their fantastic homemade blueberry muffins, with juice, tea and coffee. The service is excellent and the rooms are charming New England style. There is a darling breakfast room, or you can take your breakfast in any of the outdoor seating areas. I would go again in a hearbeat!

The Yardarm Inn is a lovely place to stay with a lot of charm. The Inn keepers are very friendly and helpful. They also bake incredible blueberry muffins!!! We also appreciated the Inn's proximity to Perkin's Cove and the fact that the Yardarm sells wine and cheese on premises. There were only two negative aspects of our stay. The room we had was a little too cozy. It was as small as rooms I have stayed at in NYC. And, probably shaving your legs in the shower would be an impossible feat due to the dimensions of the shower stall! :o) Secondly, there were several fruit flies hovering around the room; a scary looking spider behind the bed, and a strange larva on the bed sheet. It was NOT a bed bug. It was just a random bug that must have gotten in from outside. Otherwise, the place was very clean. Overall, we would give the Inn thumbs up.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Yardarm Village Inn. We have been traveling to Ogunquit for several years with several family members and always commented on how pretty it looked from the outside. After checking the Inn out on the web we decided to book a few days stay. It was not only beautiful from the outside but was equally as wonderful on the inside. Extremely clean and comfortable and the innkeepers were more than pleasant and accommodating. Not to say the homemade blueberry muffins were to die for. Just a short walk to beautiful Perkins Cove and Marginal Way you can literally park your car and walk everywhere. I highly reccommend the inn to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing New England vacation. Looking forward to staying there next year. Marsha F New Hartford NY

This was our second stay at the Yardarm. We loved the muffins so much the first trip that we made a point to spend a night here on the way home from Kennebunkport just to have them. We stayed in a suite on the 3rd floor. The room was comfy and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Scott said they replaced all the mattresses this past year.

We love to walk from the inn to Perkins cove over the foot traffic draw bridge. It is very charming and romantic.

The best feature of the inn (other than the muffins) is the front porch. It is a great place to curl up with a glass of wine, a good book and better company. We bundled ourselves into our warmest clothes one chilly October afternoon to be able to sit out there.

We also appreciated the wireless access, the wine shop, and the charming innkeepers.
