Spent a late fall weekend at this hotel. The rooms are very comfortable - the view is incredible and there is an outdoor hot tub that's open year round!! It was fabulous!! I want to try it again on a full moon night in the winter with snow on the ground!! Easy walk to town and the Marginal Way are very much pluses too!

Room Tip: Our room was right on the water - perfect!

The grounds of Anchorage By the Sea are as beautiful as the photographs, and the setting on the ocean cliffside provides beautiful views. The Marginal Way cliffside walk is easily accessed through a gate in the back fence. We enjoyed evening and morning walks on the Marginal Way -- such gorgeous views! The setting just can't be improved.

Our second-floor king bed room was pleasant and clean but nothing fancy. A table with two chairs by the window is handy for eating in the room. The window easily opens to allow the sound of the ocean waves into the room. A mini-refridgerator in the updated, well-lighted bathroom is handy for chilling water and soft drinks. The room was better than average for family-oriented oceanfront lodging.

The attractive lobby is too far removed from the rooms to be a place to hang out. Coffee is available nearby, but the quality is poor -- the worst thing about the Anchorage. Hot water and tea is available. The pool is next to the lobby.

Anchorage By the Sea was a good choice for us. It's nice to hear the sound of the oceanwaves from the room. If that's not important, less expensive lodging across the street may be found. Everyone has access to the Marginal Way and the beautiful views.

This was our first stay at The Anchorage By the Sea and my husband and I can't wait to get back there. We have traveled to Maine for many vacations and this was by far the best! Loved walking into town for dinner every night and the sun sets will melt your heart. Last night we agreed to go back every three months God willing

We stay here whenever we come to Ogunquit. The pool is great fun for all. The view from the lawn is spectacular. The rooms are always clean, comfortable and on a rare hot humid day in August it worked perfectly. The poolside food and beverage service is excellent. The access to Marginal Way is second to none. We love the place and will come back again

Room Tip: Choose a room rear the water

We have stayed at the Anchorage By the Sea many times as well as other hotels in Ogunquit. The Anchorage is by far our favorite. It starts of with the perfect location as the center of town, main beach and Perkins Cove are all within walking distance. There are not many spots where walking to each of these areas is convenient. The rooms are clean comfortable and if you want to save a little money on your room you can stay across the street in the Towers or Lightship buildings. The pool area is fantastic with a big outdoor pool with hot tubs and a kiddie pool and an indoor pool as a back-up just in case the weather does not cooperate. The views are wonderful from the back of the pool area.

The one complaint is that the restaurant at the pool is disorganized and slow and can get easily overwhelmed at the lunch time hour. The food is okay, but you can't believe them when they tell you to come back and pick up your food in ten minutes. Even the sit down service can be slow. You might be better off ordering from a server and having the food delivered to your lounge chairs at the pool, at least that you can enjoy the sun and the kids can keep swimming while you wait.

Prices are not cheap in the high season, but that is the case for most hotels in Ogunquit and this one if certainly worth an extra 20-40 per night over most of the others.

Room Tip: If you want to save a few dollars, you can stay in one of their buildings across the street.

My wife and I visited this resort and it was absolutely wonderful. Staff is helpful and the property itself is breathtaking. We would recommend this to any couple that is trying to just get away for a quiet trip. Our trip was during the colder, winter months but there was still plenty to do in this small, quaint town. The room was very spacious, warm and even had a fireplace to add to the peace.

Hello Everyone,
I just got back yesterday from a 2 night stay at this hotel and it was overall a GREAT experience. Pulling up to the hotel, it definitely impresses you right from the start. Gorgeous landscaping/plants/seasonal decorations...very modern. The location is central, right on Marginal Way and with a breathtaking view in all directions of Ogunquit Beach and the ocean. The Main Lobby is dressed up to Fall perfection, free tea & coffee, with a large fireplace and sitting area to enjoy. A view to the indoor pool/whirlpool also, which was very nice complete with the most comfortable cushy chairs and tables. The main outdoor pool is AMAZING looking, complete with 2 large hot tubs, plenty of seating, splash pool, tented restaurant and the best view you could imagine.
The rooms we stayed in, at the Towers, were also extremely modern, clean and roomy. The elevators and hallways smelled really moldy but the rooms were fine. Our view was unobstructed toward the Lobby and ocean, which was great, along with a PRIVATE balcony. They're angled so it is literally private and with a perfect view towards the ocean.
As I said, the distance to Downtown is minimal, you can walk everywhere. Marginal Way is not to miss along the ocean's edge...esp at sunset!
The staff was excellent minus one person at check in, but they were so helpful otherwise. I would go here again any season, maybe not winter! But overall it was a 9.5 out of 10!

Room Tip: Facing the ocean, Towers are great because they're just far enough from the road/pools for peace...
