“in the top 2 of Portland”

We've been here several times since it opened about a year ago. Every time, we've had a great meal. The food is very well prepared and served by knowledgeable wait people. Lots of fish, lamb, pork and some vegie--all authentically Greek, but definitely not conventional taverna stews. Nice Greek wine list.
This is the equivalent in quality to Fore St (altho different foods and atmosphere), which is generally considered the top in Portland.

“One of the Best Dining Experiences We Have Had!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2008

This is the place you go for excellent service and phenomenally well-prepared food.

The first thing you notice when you enter is that it is intimately contemporary in design, and fastidious.

The menu contains a couple of the better-known Greek dishes, but even more of lesser-known ones. It matters not what you order, because whatever it is, will be incredibly delicious.
We compared notes with the couples next to us on either side, since we each ordered something different. All of us agreed on one thing... the plating was not only beautiful, but the taste matched the beauty.
I had scallops in a lemon garlic cream sauce that were cooked absolutely perfectly. The accompanying pasta was just as superb.
My husband's whole sea bass was a work of art... to look at, and to taste.

The waitstaff were very knowledgable of their menu and extensive wine list, and were friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

We would go back to Portland just to eat here again!

“Emilitsa a new favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2008

Emilitsa is not cheap. You'll pay betweein 22-29 per meal. That being said Emilitsa is quickly becoming one of the better places to eat in Portland. It is located at 547 Congress street.

The food is amazing.

I had a terrific meal consisting of Lamb with some pasta. The portions are good which is important. The place looks beautiful and the waitresses were very nice. There was a limited beer selection beginning at 5 dollars. That was too bad but understandable. The apps were 10-11 dollars and desserts were 7 dollars. The three of us that went were amazed. There are a few vegie dishes as well.

I'll link a few reviews. This is at the very least the best Greek in Portland.

“Delicious Greek food, wonderful atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2008

I went to this restaurant on a dreary, rainy, winter day in February. The weather, combined with the fact that it just opened within the last few weeks, resulted in us having the place to ourselves.

It is a warm atmosphere with great lighting, high ceilings, and exposed brick. It's got probably 25+ tables that can be arranged to fit large parties.

Portland is a city that has many fine restaurants and Emilitsa contributes to that. The food was superb. We got a small taste from the chef as we decided on our drinks. We ordered an assortment of appetizers because we weren't starving. We got the organic beat greens with beautiful, sweet beets, a sampling of warm pita and Greek dipping sauces (one a creamy dill sauce, one a spicy feta, and another an eggplant mixture-- the last one being my favorite!), and stuffed grape leaves. ALL of them were superb. For dessert, we had some baklava and coffee, which was brewed especially for me because we were one of two parties. The baklava was delicious. The staff was attentive but not overbearing. We left feeling satiated but not stuffed.

This restaurant will do well in Portland. It caters to a higher-end crowd and fills the Greek-gap in Portland's impressive list of restaurants. I highly recommend checking this new kid in town.
