The Danforth Inn was a beautifully appointed inn, centrally located with lovely rooms. The innkeeper was helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious. I would recommend this to the most discerning traveler..

We had a very pleasant two day stay at the Danforth. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff (Libby and housekeeping) is very welcoming and friendly. Amenities similar to a four-star hotel (high quality towels, turn-down service, free wifi, robe and slippers, etc.). We only sampled the included breakfast once, but it was yummy. The location is about a ten to fifteen minute walk to Old Port and the Art District. Only downside is limited off-street parking. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

Location a bit off the main road, but an enjoyable walk into downtown. A very nice B&B. Very comfortable bed with upgraded amenities. On the morning of our early departure we missed our breakfast. The proprietor was there to waive us goodbye but did not offer us a take out, which was quite disappointing considering the whole point of staying at a B&B was its infamous Danforth breakfast. However on our next trip back to me we would definitely consider Danforth again

The Danforth is an elegant Inn that provided excellent service. The public rooms are well appointed with a mix of contemporary pieces and beautiful antiques. The historic property has some beautiful and unusual architectural detailing.
Our room was on the third floor, with a nice view, great bed, and a very large bathroom.
The Management and staff were wonderful, storing our luggage when we arrived early, taking it up to our room when the room was ready. Then letting us leave our car parked in the lot for a few extra hours on the day of our departure. The made sure we knew about the view from the cupola at the top and the Speak Easy Billiard Room in the basement.
The Inn is in a transition period and we never saw or felt any impact from it. The Management made sure we were completely insulated from their concerns. The staff were friendly and charming at all times.
There is also a common day room on each floor to enjoy the sunshine, and an outdoor terrace and garden.
The one minor comment I would make, and it is probably a temporary condition. The beds have down duvets. We didn't need the duvet in July, but a lighter spread or sheet wasn't available. Other than that the room was very well appointed. Turn down service, free bottled water, pillow chocolates, tea and cakes in the afternoon, etc. Nice attention to the details.

The Danforth will be our first place to go when we return to Portland. You can stay in a lovely bit of Portland history instead of some corporate hotel chain downtown.
I recommend the Danforth.

The Danforth proved to be all that we had heard it would be. The house, inside and out, is a delight to the eye. Bret gave us a most gracious welcome, and went above and beyond to answer our every question about restaurants and routes. The decor in the Danforth is a perfect blend of classic and contemporary -- in every room. The garden is a gem. The proximity of the house to Longfellow Square is a plus (especially for the restaurants in that vicinity). The experience could not have been better.

Really comfortable and clean property, with lots of special touches....breakfasts were delicious, tea and cookies in the afternoon as well. Lots of character to the building and modern and tasteful decor. I highly recommend as a place to stay in Portland.

My husband and I visited Portland and stayed here with our new baby for an anniversary. This place was absolutely perfect and exceeded our already high expectations. Everything is beautifully appointed, and the staff was gracious, welcoming, and kind. The Danforth was recently taken up by a new owner, who insisted on driving us to the train station when we had fully intended to walk. The new owner seems to be improving on an already lovely B&B, adding details like turndown service with Belgian chocolates and a full, hot, delicious breakfast. Stay here, it is worth every penny. This place combines luxury with gracious hospitality, a unique mix you won't find at other (usually dated) B&Bs or even high end hotels. The Danforth has a sister property in Camden, the Camden Harbour Inn, and we may just need to make it up there next year to try it out!
