This hotel is located very close to the minor league baseball park in Portland. We also went to the Portland Art Museum and enjoyed the Greek Festival. We parked the car and walked every were we went. The waterfront would have been a haul for walking.

I have stayed at the LaQuinta in Portland ME a number of times in the past and was reasonably satisified. However my last two experiences have been very bad. Staff attitude was bad, no water pressure, heat and ac working poorly, room not restocked, noise etc. parking lot full (because they were renting spaces for the local baseball game!!! You may want to think twice before booking!!!

We spent one night at this hotel. The hotel is nothing speciel, but the staff was very friendly, and we were happy to stay here.

The room was big and clean.

The naboerhood is dull but it's close to Portland, so it's fast to go in there.

There is a pool, but only a small one.

We reserved a room for 3 nights so that I could be close to my husband while he was having surgery. First problem, we found out that we could not get the hospital rate for the first night because the hotel was above 90% capacity. That was a bit of a shock. Second, we were given Room 117. This has to be the worst room in the hotel and I had made the reservation a couple months before our stay...why weren't we given the best room? No one should ever have that room. On one side of us was the checkin desk and lobby, on the other side was a connecting door to another room and you could hear everything in the adjoining room. Across from the room was the ice machine and the laundry. There was about a one inch space around the door and we could hear every loud conversation in the lobby. We could not get any sleep. After a while, we decided to turn the room fan on high...it was better but we could still hear everything.
After I got my husband settled into surgery the first day, I asked for a change of room. The staff was very nice and got me another room in a very quiet area. I really did appreciate that and was comfortable for the rest of my stay.

Room Tip: Do not get room 117! Also, ask for the back side of the motel.

Comfortable beds and pillows, and a good shower - my #1&2 criteria. Location is far from the wharves and restaurants (except Denny's) and driving/parking in Portland was difficult and very expensive. We stayed 3 nights and found the place quite satisfactory. Breakfast was fine, and had do-it-yourself waffles as well. Downtown hotels are horrendously expensive, and this was a better choice for us, plus proximity to the Interstate was convenient. Staff was professional and cordial.

Room Tip: We took what we got, no special requests except non-smoking with 2 double beds. No complaints.
