We stayed here for the weekend with our two children in a Studio Suite. This is a beautiful brand new hotel. The rooms and hotel common areas were spotless and well maintained while we were there. The kitchen in the suite was well stocked and we hosted a little "happy hour" for some friends we were meeting there in our room which was nice as we all had children. The staff was so helpful, we ordered takeout for dinner to the hotel with our friends and they offered to open the breakfast area so we would have plenty of room to eat. Someone in our group lost a watch when we went swimming and they actually checked the pool filter and all the towels. The staff recognized you when you came in and always asked if you needed help.
There is a breakfast each morning which had a hot section as well as cereal, make your own waffles and yogurt and fruit. There were eggs, hash browns and sausage also.
This hotel sits about 2 blocks outside the Old Port section of Portland in a somewhat industrial area so we did not have a great view out our window(looked at a brewery) but the waterfront is right out front. It is nice to be removed from the Old Port so you do not hear the noise from the bars as they empty at closing time. The room also had a window that opened which we love as we like the fresh air.
You do have to pay for parking at a municipal lot next to the hotel but they give you multiple passes to come and go as needed.

Hotel was wonderful as was the staff. We were only there on an overnight, but plan on going back this summer. Portland is a fun city to explore.

Stayed at this Residence Inn based on the #1 rating here on Tripadvisor which included some very good reviews.

The excellent reviews are right on target. Traveled to Portland from Atlanta for a business meeting but had my wife join me and we extended our stay into a mini-vacation. We could not have been happier with a hotel experience.

The room was very nice, modern and roomy. The hotel staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.

I highly recommend this hotel with my only complaint being that the location is slightly off the beaten path and our room had the Shipyard Brewery outside our window. The Brewery had some trucks coming in and out at 2:00am which woke us up. There isn't much to look at outside the hotel but the Old Port is just a few blocks aways. Love it!

Just returned from a business trip to the Marine Institute in Portland Maine and stayed for a couple of delightful evenings at the Residence Inn Downtown/Waterfront. A great find, which I expect will soon be discovered by many more. I arrived late, near midnight and I had called ahead to ask about a shuttle pickup at the airport, which they offered and was greatly appreciated. They were waiting for me when I landed. On the way we picked up a few other people staying at the hotel who had gone to one of the local pubs for the evening and certainly seemed to be enjoying Portland. The hotel staff were just always there to help make everyone's experience personal and first rate. It was a short drive to the hotel. Over the next few days I enjoyed the room and meals, the friendly and helpful staff and even the little extra walking because the hotel is just beyond the old town area. It was very quiet in the hotel. I was there for business and welcomed the quiet and attention. The hotel just opened recently and everything was obviously new, clean, and welcoming. The place looked great, the room was very nicely appointed, very comfortable. The usual set up with kitchen and seating area, eating table and a working desk, sofa and living area and bedroom space.... but all well laid out and functional even in the studio type suite. Lots of towels and the bedding was very nice. Free wireless worked great. Morning breakfast was very good with a fresh assortment of fruit, cereals, waffles, eggs, potatoes etc. lots of juices and coffee, muffins, bagels etc. The evening social offered was again rather quiet at the start but picked up over time. They offered a nice fresh salad, cheeses and dips, etc. which was enjoyed by visitors. The lounge and eating area are very pleasant and people also clustered quietly around the bar and fireplace. The pool and fitness areas looked very nice. I would definitely recommend this residence inn as a new addition to the area.

We celebrated my dads birthday here. While the rooms are a little pricey we did bring a dog and my beautiful bride to be cooked a great meal in the kitchenette.
