this was the only bar in Portland that was open on Christmas day ..the staff was friendly however they offered nothing to eat..Very disappointed that Portland had nothing else to offer...some of us do not have the opportunity to spend this Holiday with our families and looked forward to have a place to go to ..Thank goodness that the Regency Lounge opened at three...otherwise Portland was closed..

Thank Janice M

There were many shops and the newly relocated Edgecomb potters. A great shop and a lot of ambiance as you can see the harbor and ships in the distance. Even with the snow falling it was very busy and made Christmas Shopping even more fun.

Commercial Street is the very beginning of the Old Port section of town. It's where everyone goes to take a ferry or tour boat ride, shop for souvenirs and find a great place for lunch or dinner. During summer, it is TEEMING with tourists, and it's delightful. It can be hard, or nearly impossible, to find a place to park if you don't get there early in the day. There is a $10.00 lot, but even that fills up fast. The street parking...really...don't bother looking! There are people crossing the street everywhere. The state law says you let people cross if they are in the cross-walk, and they mean it!
The shops are wonderful, the restaurants are a delight. It's hard to go wrong, and if you're looking for high-end gifts or souvenir t-shirts or lobster lollipops, you've got plenty to look at. Come early, roam around and then have lunch. It's a shopper's delight, and if you can stay for dinner, all the better. Enjoy. Those of us who live here take all of our visitors to Commercial St.
and everyone loves the experience.

Shops galore, food, treats, spices, cooking supplies, the water front, big wide street and a ton of great side streets and shops.

This is an all day stop, which is fine, because there are a ton of stops to make.

Want a coffee, there are no less then 3-5 shops for that. How about pizza, a dozen or so for this. And let's not forget Maine Seafood … hell a dozen plus places to get great eats like this.

t-shirts, novelties, high end cookware, Maine souvenirs, books stores, quint walks. There is so much to see and do here, it just has to be a stop if you are within an hours drive.

Deciding between Freeport (LL Bean) and here, for me, it's here.

Great Restaurants and a neat atmosphere. We ate at Boones, which is fabulous. Easy to walk around and lots to see, but things close early in the evening, so get there early afternoon to allow yourself ample time to explore.
