We stayed here this past Saturday night to finish up Christmas shopping and take the kids out of town for the night. The location of the hotel is decent - a short walk to Commercial Street - although not quite as conveniently located as The Regency, Hilton Garden Inn and the Portland Harbor Hotel. That being said, they did offer us a free shuttle to dinner, which was nice since it was relatively cold that evening, and would have picked us up if we had called but we opted to walk back. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful - from the front desk, to valet to Norman at breakfast. The layout of the lobby is a bit cumbersome since if there is a line to check in a bottleneck quickly forms. Otherwise the hotel is very nice and extremely clean. The beds were heavenly (my 7-year-old said it was the most comfortable bed he has ever slept in) and the bathrooms were on the larger size. Our room also included a small refrigerator and microwave. The duvets are thick and warm, which was handy since the ENTIRE hotel was out of heat. We discovered this upon returning to our room after swimming in the pool (which is on the small side and sorely missing a hot tub for parents to relax in while kids are swimming). The front desk quickly called maintenance when we reported the issue and gave us keys to another room, however; upon inspection that room was without heat as well. They finally realized that it was a hotel-wide situtation so we hunkered down with extra blankets shortly before midnight (which was a bit late with three children in tow). Apparently the company that installed the heating system is located in New Hampshire. Upon checking out at 10:30 a.m. they STILL were not there working on the system, which is ridiculous given that the problem was discovered around 10:00 p.m. They did offer the kids free snacks and said they would redeem our Hilton Honors points so we will see......The food at breakfast was adequate but the space is definitely on the small side to accommodate a full hotel. We ended up sharing a seat with another gracious couple (who I'm sure hadn't intended to spend their breakfast with us and three children). Norman, who attends to breakfast, is very personable and made a point of chatting with the kids. Unfortunately, many of the items needed restocking, like plastic utensils, butter, cups, etc (although, in fairness, it was approaching the end of breakfast hours). And they don't mess around with closing time - at 10:00 a.m. the doors were shut to the breakfast room so you couldn't get refills or additional food items. Not a big concern since were were finished anyway but others were just getting there. I think they should consider extending the hours on the weekend for people choosing to relax and sleep in. The attached Sebago Bay Brewing Company is a great feature of this hotel! We went for drinks prior to dinner and the kids watched fireworks from the window seat. We didn't try the food since we were taking the kids to Fuji but the menu has a great selection and seemed very reasonably priced. Great draft beers too!

Room Tip: Be sure to eat breakfast early! I'm not sure I would bother with the water view (we received on...

Spent 2 nights here in mid-December. We enjoyed it. Location is good...walking distance to both Old Port as well as the water. It's new so the bed is comfortable and everything works. Huge television; decent workout room and pool. Breakfast is included. Valet parking is kind of a pain but at least the car is close if you need to access it. I think they are still getting some of the bugs out. We left the room late one day (around 11:30) and never got maid service. By the time we came back it wasn't an option. Thought that was a little odd. Breakfast was good but on the second morning not everything was put out. Couldn't find anybody to help. A number of rooms didn't have any heat which was really unpleasant. The front desk was great and provided extra blankets and didn't charge us for that night but it really put a damper on our weekend. Couldn't take a shower because the bathroom was really cold. We were surprised that a chain as large as Hilton didn't have a service person on call. Wound up checking out 3 hours sooner than we had planned. Despite that we would stay again.

Room Tip: Our king room was huge.

Nice new Hampton within a few minutes walk of downtown Portland sights. Better than most Hampton inns and even has a decent restaurant attached. Very good for business or pleasure travel. 1 criticism...Valet only parking for $9.50 made no sense in mid December arrival. Big parking lot was more than half empty. TIP...free parking on street from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

It's a new hotel, it's clean, it's about 2 blocks from the waterfront and convenient to the shop, restaurants, and harbor cruises. It's handicapped accessible, no stairs at the entrance, you enter from a covered valet area, has elevators and truly accessible rooms. Although the hotel's accessible the historic area of the city is far from accessible. They give you a nice breakfast buffet and have coffee out all day. The staff is friendly, but not the most organized or efficient. Check your bill and your credit card statement later. While they corrected the errors, I found two small charges, under $5, that did not belong on my bill. I don't like when that sort of thing happens.

All the great reviews about this hotel are right on the money. Hotel is only 6 months old, so everything is still brand new. That means, beds, pillows, sheets, furniture, and towels. Parking is $15 which is reasonable, all the local Parking Garages get $25 for 24hrs. The hotel has a secure Parking Lot, not a Parking Garage right on-sight, so if you forgot something in your car, it's literally right outside the hotels doors, and easy to retrieve.
Being a Hilton Honors member, we recieved an early check-in, and complimentary upgrade to a room with a view. The view was nice, but nothing I would pay extra for.
The hotel even has a FREE shuttle that will take you anyplace in the city, and pick you up. Sebago Brewing is in the hotel lobby, and they serve food right up until last call at 1am. If you tell them you are staying at the hotel, you get a 10% discount on your bill.
Free Breakfast in the morning, was very good, and wait until you meet Norman. This guy loves his job, and it show's. If you have children in your group, he'll make them Chocolate Chip Waffles.
This hotel, is a 5min. walk to all the tourist destinations in the Old Port.
Last year, we stayed at The Residence Inn. That hotel is about 1/8 mile down the street from this property, and a year older. The Residence Inn, is "almost" as nice as The Hampton Inn.

My husband and I recently returned from a quick getaway to Portland. The Hampton Inn exceeded our expectations. The hotel was in a great location from which to launch our adventures. Rooms were super clean and the staff was so friendly. The gentleman working in the breakfast area in the morning was so cheerful you couldn't help but have a great day.

This place had been open only a few days when we stayed here. It was pristine! I love clean and it was clean everywhere. Great location, just step outside and you can walk the downtown waterfront area. Staff was very good. Also convenient to S Portland and Cape Elizabeth. There is a Whole Foods grocery close by. Awesome room darkening blinds.

Took a star off for 2 things, the parking is a pain in the neck. They have a parking lot but everytime you come and go you have to have the valet park and get your car, I didn't get why. Did not mind paying the $15, just wish I could have done it myself. The other minor thing is the waterfront view is not much of a view, you can see a little water through all the buildings but nothing special, not worth the extra $10 for the "view".
