A very nice Hampton Inn in a great location. We arrived later in the day, but still had time for a nice walk around the water and downtown. The restaurant that was attached to the property was also nice and it was great to just head upstairs to our room. Breakfast was nice and since it was a week day it was not over crowded which was nice for a change!

Stayed there 2 nights last week at the end of our holiday and was very impressed. Very close to downtown area and also waterfront where you can pick up harbour sightseeing boats. Nice reception/breakfast area with great choice of food including porage, fresh fruit, yogurts as well as cooked options which changed daily. Nice touch to have a choice of coffee available all day too. Useful office suite where you can use the pcs/printer which was useful for printing out our return flight boarding passes. Staff very efficient and friendly. We were very pleased that they offered a free minibus to the centre as it was a cold night and the restaurant we chose was a good 25 mins walk away on the far end of Congress, we were even picked up around 10 pm after our meal which was even better service!

I must say the room was really well appointed with good storage space, an iron and ironing board, coffee making set, free high speed internet access along with the free wifi which was very easy to connect to. The King size bed was a real plus too and was very comfy. Big stand-in shower and a very comprehensive range of complimentary toiletries as in addition to the customary shower gel/shampoo/conditioner there were make up remover wipes, mouthwash and moisurising lotion, really thoughtful.

We hope to return next year to Portland and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else, great value.

Comfortable bed and room. Lighting was good. Great location near many restaurants and nightlife (walking distance). Includes breakfast and internet access. Some healthier options would have been great. Unfortunately no room service provided at night and when travelling for work sometimes you just want to have a quick meal and go to sleep.

The Hampton Inn in downtown Portland is in a great location and not as expensive as the othe downtown hotels. One block from the waterfront with lots of great places to eat and shop. Also close to the docks where the tour boats go out for harbor sightseeing. The breakfast area is light and bright and excellent selection and quality of food for this type of property. Staff very helpful. Parking is extra because they lease out the area... Rooms are spacious. No tubs , larger showers... back view of the hotel faces churches and streets with charm. I am sure the front rooms have a view of the ocean? not sure since I did not have one of those rooms.. Beds were wonderful.
A good place to stay if you are in Portland.

Room Tip: If you want to spend a tad more, ask for a 'view' of the waterfront. My guess is most...

My husband and I stayed there Oct 2013,This is a great Hotel, the rooms are very nice, staff is friendly, the breakfast was fresh and good and the location is great. I was really impressed with the small details of the room, like a night light in the bathroom and a note that let you know that your comforter had been cleaned for you. The bed was great, I cant say enough about this hotel, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Portland.

We checked in on a Monday evening with no reservation. The staff was friendly and helpful and got us taken care of very efficiently. The lobby was clean and well-furnished. The room was also very clean and quiet, and I had no complaints. The hotel itself is a few blocks walk from the heart of Portland harbor, which was very convenient, although there was occasionally a strong fishy smell right out the front door thanks to the docks a few blocks away. This hotel was a good value for anyone wanting to stay in downtown Portland, especially if you have a AAA membership or other discount.

Enjoyed our stay here; it was scupulously clean, welcoming, and in a great location for waterfront Portland. We were picking up a rental car at the Portland Jetport, and the hotel offered a free shuttle. Excellent.

Breakfast was tasty, but for us coming from the land of crockery and cutlery, a little disconcerting eating from disposable plates and paper cups! Welcome to America, lol. What a shame the only coffee on offer was the excerable sludge misnamed "coffee" in the land of the free....oh well, we found a decent espresso in the waterfront area!

Recommended place for a quiet, comfortable sleep.
