“Very nice Hampton Inn”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014

We stayed here for 4 days and were very happy. The hotel is fairly new and kept up well. Breakfast was good, a step up from the usual free breakfasts. The location is great. A few minutes walk will take you to the heart of the Old Port or to the waterfront and the ferry to Canada. Some very good restaurants like Duck Fat are just around the corner. Finally, the staff was very nice.

I wish that we were able to stay longer than just one night here. This is a great location for walking to shops and restaurants. We had a spacious clean room. There is no tub, only a shower . We had a king size bed, with lots of fluffy pillows. There is only valet parking at $15 a day. Check in was quick and the staff is pleasant. Breakfast was better than most of the Hampton Inns that we have stayed at. there is a good restaurant attached to the hotel called Sebago. After 5 p.m., you can use your room key to enter directly from the hotel. They brew their own beer which was very tasty. My husband and I both had seafood dinners that were delicious.

Useful information: 1) Great location; 2) Standard double rooms are $220 with taxes; 3) Parking in the town garage is $31 per day (!!) or you need to valet your car at the hotel for $15 per day.

Nice location convenient to downtown, ferries, beaches, and the sites, and close to one of the best restaurants in the country as voted by multiple sources -- Fore Street. Hampton is a consistent brand with nice rooms, clean conditions, a reasonable breakfast, and attentive service.

My two issues with this property are that they are not in New York or Boston yet charge higher rates than most other Hamptons we have used. $200 per night plus taxes is a lot for a Hampton. That said, hotels in Portland are expensive up and down the choices. We shopped and ended up here anyway. Just know the rates are high when planning your stay.

Secondly, my first night there they wanted me to valet my car which I'm not a big fan of. I went to the garage a couple of blocks down and found it was $31 per day. Seems they should let their guests self-park, and either charge high room rates or daily parking fees but not both.

I couldn't shake the feeling of being gypped when I was pulling away.

If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have a harbor view but they may charge a higher rate for these rooms.

First thing, I hate paying for parking $15 night. Although the valet was fast and helpful.

Check in was fast and friendly and the room we had was a King unit on the 3rd floor.
Nice and bright with 2 windows. Our room had a walk in shower NO bathtub and the vanity is nice and large for all the girlie stuff. The bed was AWESOME! Excellent mattress, just like home. The one thing that would make it better would be KING pillows. The standard pillows are just to small for the bed.
We were so tired after travelling all day so having Sebago Brewing Co. attached to the Hotel was so convenient when grabbing a quick bite before bed.
The free Breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff were very friendly.
The next time I’m in Portland I would not hesitate to return.

Room Tip: We had a nice end room which had 2 windows, nice and bright.

Very nice accomodations in a great location. Clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed here with my husband while visiting our daughter who lives in Portland. Only complaint was the scrambled eggs at the complimentary breakfast. But key word: complimentary. Big deal. The coffee was fine. I'm sure we'll be back!

The best thing about this hotel was the location. We didn't need the car at all during our 2 day stay. The $15/night valet was also a deal. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to be in the heart of everything.

I travel for business over 200 nights a year.
This Hampton Inn is a class place.
The location is great and the staff is top notch.

My only complaint is the extra $15 dollars a day for parking.
I am a Hilton Diamond member and paying for parking is something that you expect in a big city.
I understand Portland is a vacation destination, but the price of the room and my dedication to Hilton should provided me with discounted parking.
I would stay here again, but I hope they chaange their parking policy.

Room Tip: Ask for a queen bed to have a view of the water.
