We hunted this place out, as it was listed in our Lonely Planet guidebook, so I can't understand why there are not more reviews on here. It is completely off the tourist trail, but soooooo worth it. The place is primarily a deli, with a huge selection of Italian produce, but out the back is a bakery where you can pick up fresh bread and slabs of pizza. One variety only. You stand in line until it comes out the oven. There are a few seats to sit at, or you can take-out in boxes provided. It is truly delicious. Very fluffy, doughy base, with a liberal amount of herby tomato sauce and cheese. The slice is massive, and I can't remember the cost, but seem to recall thinking I expected it to cost twice the amount.

There are paper plates stuck on the wall, with comments written on them such as "I come from NYC and this beats any pizza I've had". There is no counter at the back, so there is an honesty policy, where you pay in the deli, having already eaten. We were so glad we found this unassuming place.

Yes, Italian meats, cheeses, olive oil, and other such have been their mainstay for years. Recently they began carrying other ethnic foods, some fruits and vegetables, and such. Quality is excellent, and prices are very reasonable.

But for many, the main attraction is the Pizza that Stee Lancelota makes. Suffice to say that often there's a line of people waiting for the next pie to come out of the oven. Steve is a wonderful baker.

I can't believe I'm the first to get Micucci Grocery recognized and listed on TripAdvisor. The great staff at Standard Bakery directed us there in search of cheeses to go with the excellent crusty loaf I had just purchased. True, we had to walk a few blocks past the tourist section, turn left at the Ferry, and pass the old Grand Trunk Steamship depot. The Grocery is a hidden treasure of fresh mozzarella ($5.99 LB), domestic gorgonzola ($4.99 LB), prosciutto, salami, olives, too many varieties of olive oils, sardines, anchovies, and other canned goods to cout, plus a dairy case, fresh tomatoes and organic basil. The wine section is a treasure trove. Go into the way back, through the portals of the original store and you will find a bakery with homemade Sicilian pizza sold by the slice, and pastries of the day. Local Italian breads are sold up front. The deli guys are a bit terse and the guys who run the cash register couldn't be more helpful. Buono appetiito! PS: they sell wholesale, too. So good, I went back again for refills 3 days later. PPS pick up the Rosario's Pesto. It's heaven schmeared on the crusty bread.
