This is a good quality, reasonably priced hotel in the heart of Portland. It is a very easy stroll to the waterfront (1 block) and all the cute Portland shops are at the hotels doorstep. Staff are all friendly, rooms are modern and clean. I ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant for a couple of meals and the food was good quality. I would recommend this hotel.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience on Trip Advisor. We are fortunate to be Portland's only 4 Diamond Hotel and we agree that our location is perfect for enjoying all that Portland has to offer. We will share your complements regarding room cleanliness and quality of menu at Eve's on the Garden, with our staff.

We hope to welcome you back again.

Warm Regards,

We were in Portland for the Jewish Film Festival . It was quite cold- but the lobby was snug and warm with the blazing ( altho electric) fireplace and we ate dinner right in the lobby . Very nice .. I recommend this hotel for a lovely stay .

On this first trip to Portland, we had the pleasure of staying at the Portland Harbor Hotel, ideally situated, within easy walking distance of the City's restaurants, shopping and Harbor life. The Quiet rooms were larger than usual and the staff took extra care to see that all of our needs were met. One small example, when a phone charger died, the Concierge made several calls, found a replacement a block away and made special arrangements to have the store stay open a short while after its customary hours so that we could stop by and replace it. Another example: A package was sent to us at the hotel. The staff received it, delivered it to the room and when we walked in, recognized us when we walked into the lobby and let us know that the package was waiting for us in our room. Rates were exactly as advertised, valet and luggage service was quick and competent. Linens and amenities were top rate. Unsolicited, the hotel even left wineglasses and an opener in the room. There's no doubt that we'll stay there on our next visit to Portland.

We booked the honeymoon suite as a way to break up the drive to Sugarloaf for a week of spring skiing. After 2 nights at Sugarloaf, the wonderful staff, fantastic amenities, beyond comfortable beds, and beautifully appointed rooms called us back to Portland Harbor Hotel. The showers, jacuzzi tubs, spa services, room service, and entire staff were second to none. Our stay here was so wonderful and romantic, it inspired us to sign up with TripAdvisor to share our experience.

The food is superb the staff and the restaurant beyond compare. The rooms are very well appointed and extremely clean. The entire staff from the valets to the lobby attendants are constantly smiling and fun. The price of the stay certainly isnt low, but the prices in the restaurant were extremely reasonable and the food was truly incredible. The banana bread french toast with blackberry bacon jam was particularly noteworthy.

I really wanted to write a review of Portland, the city, itself, but TripAdvisor unfortunately does not allow it, so I ended up doing it within the context of a review of the hotel we stayed in. Our family has been living in Boston and we have explored surrounding towns and areas to the best of our ability. Vermont used to be our favorite so far. My wife discovered Portland when she wanted an outing for her 40th birthday, and her colleagues recommended it. I tend to find tourist spots to be a little cold towards tourists, and jaded, and the food is usually horrible. Portland was full of people who seemed genuine but warm-hearted and happy - not the fake veneer of niceness you usually see everywhere but a deep-felt one. A lot of people looked you in the eye and smiled. I'm not used to it. They must lead a simpler life. And the food! I'm very picky and I was blown away. Of course, you have to ask the locals for advice. In our case, the hotel folks did that. Boones was amazing. So was the Old Port Sea Grille. I have decided I'm going to live on Oysters from now on. Never liked it so much before. Holy Donuts will put Dunkin out of business someday. Dobra's Tea was the perfect end. And the hotel's restaurant blew me away as well! I wasn't expecting it all to. I had a rack of lamb made rare that was simply divine. My wife had some vegetarian dish (I usually avoide vegetarian) but even that was mouth melting! The hotel was well situated with everything being walking distance, very reasonably priced on a weekday, with lavishly furnished rooms, and the staff, as I said, genuinely nice. Portland is my new favorite vacation spot from now on.

Your review was a pleasure to read. We agree that Portland is a " Gem" of a city and we're glad that you plan to return. Our award winning Chef, Tim Labonte, at Eve's at The Garden continues to delight the most discriminating palate.

Thank you for your kind words and we look forward to welcoming you back again and again.

The stay was very nice. The room was spacious and well appointed. It overlooked the snowy garden and out to the bay. The staff was friendly and helpful. It has a cozy little bar with a fireplace. And it is right in the center of Old Port, and one can walk to almost everything in the marvelous town of Portland, Maine. I definitely recommend it.

We appreciate the compliments. Portland is a great destination with something to do for everyone. Although the snowy garden looked great, the garden is a wonderful spot for an outdoor dining experience in the summer. We hope you will get a chance to return this summer to enjoy it.

We look forward to your return.
