“Love this Place”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

The North Point offers a friendly vibe, interesting wine and beer choices, and a creative range of pressed sandwiches and charcuterie. Great spot for lunch or after work drinks and nibbles. The brothers who own the North Point have filled a niche that was missing in our foodie town.

“I Promised”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

My wife and I visited The North Point after I found it researching Portland. Thankfully, we got in early (around noon), and were fortunate enough to meet Noah, one of the owners. We had a great talk about the origins of the place, and I promised I would review it online. I know Mainers who have told out-of-staters that "you can't get there from here," and I'd like to do the same because this place is so cool that I want it to remain hidden. However, I can't do that. Thankfully, they are opening another place.

“Just wish we had stayed longer!”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

Due to us missing out on one of the Portland foodie tours, we decided to make our own whirlwind tour of restaurants and bars in Portland, and after visiting a very nice bar for pre dinner drinks, we headed north, and stumbled upon The North Point.

From the moment we entered, being greeted by Cowboy Dan & Audrey Hepburn, (I forgot to mention, it was Halloween evening!) We were treated as loyal customers, not first timers that just wandered in off the streets. Our waitress "Audrey" was charming, helpful and very knowledgeable on all the menu questions we fired at her. We were a table of four, and told her of our quest for our own foodie tour, which meant us enjoying a separate course at many different restaurants We asked her to ask the chef to prepare his choice of appetizer for four, which turned out to be amazing! Out came a large selection of meats, cheeses and other tasty delights.

We also managed to sample the delights of the cocktail menu and wine list, which was was equally delightful.

My only regret was that we couldn't spend longer at The North Point due to our whirlwind tour!
If we ever come back to Portland, I'm putting a whole evening aside for you, you deserve it.

If you're in Portland, make sure The North Point is on your foodie tour!

P.S. That's a painting of Beyonce right?

“What a find! Excellent buzzy atmosphere with great food and service!”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

We had looked around Portland for about an hour to find somewhere with real atmosphere with no success and fairly despondently wandered down Silver Street on the way back to the Hotel.
We had resigned ourselves to yet another bland hotel offering.
Just as we were giving up hope we found this lovely lively little place....

"A visually exciting, warm, upscale dining and drinking experience, minus attitude and pretention. Just delicious, top quality, beautifully presented cuisine, delicious cocktails, twenty three superior wines by the glass or bottle - all of it very affordable, ten beers on tap, and the friendliest staff you'll ever encounter".

You're not wrong; this is total plagiarism from their own description at the top of this site.
I heartily agree with their opinion, cannot fault it in the least, and am so glad we stumbled upon it.
Lovely Crepes delicious Beef Bourgignon in a bowl, Excellent Nicoise, and the two bottles of Malbec (only because they had a deal on the wines) didn't hurt either.
Cracking little place! A must if in Portland!

“Something different”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

We had dinner here and it was a pleasant surprise. Not an ordinary menu but small dishes so you can try a few different ones. We both started with a salade (one babyspinach with cheese, cranberry and one arugula with pear and parmezan) both fresh and tastefull, good dressings. Then I tried the 'hot sausages': three different types of sausage, each very special and tastefull. No need for the sauces! Henry had the Reuben flatbread: lots of tender meat and lots of flavour. Delicious. As a dessert we chose 3 cheeses. Especially the (Maine) goatcheese with dark chocolate was great! They serve a good choice of (local) beer and wines.
Observant and friendly staff.
