I love Rosie's. It's one of my faves in the Old Port. A small bar with a little seating and good food. Our waiter was wicked nice and it's fun to sit in the window and people watch. A relaxed atmosphere for those looking to kick back for a quick bit and a beer.

Decided to land at Rosie's to enjoy the St Patrick's evening festivities, drinks and appetizers. We have been to Rosie's several times and it's a pretty typical inner city Portland pub experience. Lot's of people both friends and couples enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. We hung around for a few hours sharing beer and nacho's. The food is typically pretty good but the nachos came out cold...sent them back for a quick warming. The waitress was very accommodating and had a wonderful fun spirit about her. Not sure I could easily manage a room full "festive" people like she did. In any event, if you want a fun relaxing Portland pub experience, Rosie's should be on the list. We had a good time as we always do.

This is a local neighborhood joint that has somehow survived in Portland on the West End. The food is average and the bar prices are OK. However, if you don't look like what the help expects you should like, you will get an attitude. Basicly, it's a neighborhood bar with food; if you look upscale and kempt, you will not be welcome here. Don't worry - Portland has many other places to visit. You will not miss anyhting here.

Dear Capt,
I was so sorry to hear of your experience with our establishment.
Surprised when you talked about the West End as we are in the East End of the Old Port section of Portland.
We pride ourselves in being a friendly neighborhood bar and would like the chance to serve you again.

We just happened to wander in to watch the football game seeing that there were large flat screen televisions in the bar. Atmosphere was comfortable. The staff was friendly. Not the cleanest bar in Portland but far from the worst. Everyone enjoyed the bar food.

My wife and I were visiting Portland and I heard about poutine, which is french fries with cheese curds and covered in brown gravy. A search turned up Rosie's, a must visit pub in downtown Portland. We made the visit and we're glad we did! I had the poutine, which was delicious! My wife had the Something Fishy sandwich, made with fresh haddock. It was also excellent! I loved the fact they serve several locally brewed beers. As an added treat, we had a slice of the raspberry cream cake. Another fantastic item! Barbara was tending bar and was a delight to talk with. We also got to meet Rosie, a lady of few words, who lets her food do the talking. We'll listen anytime!! If you go to Portland, go to Rosie's! Don't miss the tribute to Spam.........
