My fiancee and I stayed here for a weeknight. The decor is great, the staff (owners?) were friendly. There is only an hour for breakfast in the morning, but that's because it's table service. And the food was great! There were about 10 others at breakfast, also.

Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the food, which is homemade and creative. Please consider a return trip to our Portland boutique inn.

I found the West End area of Portland very interesting. The b&b gave me the opportunity to explore a new and eclectic part of town. It was a beautiful home with lovely furnishings and artwork. I enjoyed the common rooms. I, too, was surprised that two doors had to be opened/closed at the b&b. I wondered if I needed to be mindful as a single woman walking around. It was fine. I was invited to afternoon tea but was surprised that there were only peanut cookies (store bought?) and not a variety. My room (#3) was very comfortable and well decorated, especially for one person. I LOVED the sheets and always enjoy a terry robe. It would have been difficult to open a window however. The AC worked well. Breakfast offerings were fine. I hope everything was homemade. The manager was very pleasant.

Room Tip: #3 is on the 3rd floor. It was a quiet room.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay, our location in Portland's lovely West End, our art collection and the service of henrY and Erin. I can assure you that all cookies and breakfasts are completely homemade. We do vary the cookies from day to day, but because they are homemade and fresh, only one cookie type is featured each day. We hope you'll return to the Pomegranate Inn if your travels bring you back to Portland.

The room we are staying in is fine, and though the bathroom is shabby, it's appropriate for $225 a night--but BEWARE that the level of service is shockingly low.

For example--the front door of the hotel is locked because it seems a dodgy neighborhood, so one must ring a doorbell to check in.

We sat outside for over 10 minutes at 4pm (which is the check in time for this particular b+b) ringing the bell and calling two numbers to the inn before someone let us in (and she amazingly said--'oh sorry--I was chatting on the phone'...you didn't hear the doorbell or us call the inn?? At the exact check in time when you should be expecting guests?)

Its by no means the end of the world, but for $225 a night, one could stay somewhere much nicer.

We are so sorry and very disappointed that the snafu at our front door colored your entire stay at Pomegranate Inn. Erin and henrY tried their best to compensate for the confusion and had thought you enjoyed your room, Portland and our gourmet breakfasts, and most of all, their service. We have taken steps to fix the buzzer issue (the buzzer does not sound if our staff is helping someone on the phone) and have made the operational decision to keep the door unlocked during check-in hours. Perhaps you would reconsider your one star rating?

Nice old home. Very helpful staff. Great breakfast. Main downside is location-need to drive to harbor area where most of the restaurants and shopping are located. Need to climb stairs. Really enjoyed the town- art galleries, Victoria mansion, art museum, food.

Thank you for your review and nice words about our inn, staff and breakfast. We are so glad that you enjoyed all the offering of Portland -- art, food, Victoria Mansion. There's much more to see, do and eat in Portland. Please come again and try some more!

The Pomegranate Inn is a must-stay if you are looking for something special. The inn has interesting art and beautiful surrounding, with lots of attention to detail. Given the limited hotels in the Portland area and if you are looking for something different,, this B&B is it. Take a look at their website for things to do and places to eat - they've done the work for you! Keep in mind that you are in a residential neighborhood and parking is limited with parking restrictions.

Room Tip: Rooms are viewable on the website.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed the unique and "visually exciting" look of the inn. It's also nice to hear that our "things to do" section on the website helped you plan your stay and contributed to a fun visit. We greatly appreciate your kind review and hope you choose to stay with us again if your travels bring you back East.
