A friend and I were going in to have dinner around 5pm and at first when we sat down, we thought it was just an aroma from a couple near our table, but then the air just lingered in heavy smoke. It was terrible. We weren't even there for 10 minutes, we didn't end up staying to eat because the smoke had taken over the air quality, we had gotten into the car and our hair and clothes reeked of smoke. This has been a second time, and we probably won't be returning, if we decide to eat there, we will be getting take out instead because the food is decent, just not the restaurant itself.

To our knowledge the only authentic soup pot in the area, but you may need to ask for it as we did not see it on the menu. Very good but large may be too big for two. Quiet, nice service even though waitress spoke very limited English. Some authentic food....nice meal.

There are quite a few very good Japanese restaurants in downtown Portland, but in our Deering neighborhood there is just one, Ginza Town. The atmosphere is lacking but the food and service are very good. The menu is extensive, including Thai choices (lots of Pho) as well as Japanese. I am partial to the sushi and sashimi, the sushi chef is excellent. My husband likes the tempura and teriyaki. I am also fond of the salty edamame which is served as an appetizer and the Miso soup. The prices are a little high for a small, very casual neighborhood restaurant but the food is worth the price.
