The wife and I wanted to get away for a winter weekend, and this place met all our criteria: Close to Portland, Free Parking, Indoor pool, Free breakfast. We were greeted very well, and I was surprised to see that the free breakfast was more than just the usual grab and go assortment (They had a made to order omelette station). In addition to the breakfast, they have a free reception in the evening for guests. Just two downsides in my opinion: 1) The dining area can get packed during breakfast (but you can take your tray up to your room) and 2) The elevators are deathly slow, and the stair don't take you down to the lobby (they go outside the hotel).

Dear Aamir,

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our property. The hot breakfast and evening reception are definitely our two most popular complimentary services. We also appreciate your constructive criticism. Breakfasts can be very busy when we are full but we do offer addition seating in our atrium, I'm not sure if you were aware of that. There was an issue with one of our elevators in December and, you are right, the one working elevator was just not enough. I apologize for that and it has been taken care of, both elevators are now in service. Thanks so much for your feedback and we hope you are able to make a return visit, in the future.

Sincerely,

Timothy Prosser

We spent two nights at this hotel with another couple to celebrate the New Year. The hotel was very clean and the staff provided excellent service. The omlets at breakfast were outstanding, prepared by Jamie, the engaging chef from Jamaica. The hotel was quite full but the common areas never seemed loud or overly crowded. Our dinner in the restaurant was well prepared with fresh ingredients. We enjoyed the gas fireplace in the main lobby...nice and cozy amd much appreciated in the frigid cold and snow that blanketed the area. The musicians and female vocalist who performed on the first night we were there were first rate. Highly recommended.

Dear John H.,

We are pleased that you enjoyed your New Year's Eve stay with us. To give credit, where credit is due, our omlet chef's name is actually Andrew and you are right, he is one of our most popular, and skilled, team members. The band which you enjoyed is "The Tony Boffa Trio" and we are very lucky to have them perform here each Monday night during our complimentary Manager's Reception. Something else you commented on was the uncrowded feeling of the common areas. That is actually a planned attribute of The Embassy Suites brand- instead of a tradition hotel lobby, each Embassy has a very spacious "Atrium" with high ceilings, large windows and natural lighting and even a falling water sculpture, or fountain. We are delighted that you enjoyed these extra touches and hope you won't wait until next New Year to plan a trip back to see us!

Best Wishes in 2014,

If you don't mind sleeping next to the Portland International Jetport or being about 15 minutes from downtown Portland, this might be the place for you. The rates are great, the rooms are clean, staff wonderful....but the free hotbreakfast and evening reception complete with complimentary cocktails is what will grab you and keep you coming back!

We invest a little extra in these services but the longterm reward is in guest loyalty. During our stay of six days, the area experienced the extremes of weather for a winter and Holiday season in Maine. Through it all the hotel staff was cheerful and helpful. Also, the parking and entrances to the hotel were maintained in a accessible and safe condition. KUDOS. We could not have chosen a better location for our stay. Thank you.

Dear Frank,

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this comment. As you well know, a winter blizzard in Maine is no laughing matter and we try to be prepared. We always strive to put our best foot forward, knowing how stressful bad weather can be on travellers. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and, hopefully, next time you can experience our area in the summertime!

Wonderful hotel that offers great value for your money! The suites are designed for families and provide that extra space to allow you to relax. Great for families no matter what ages. The suite provides extra work space if you need to check in w/the office or leisure if you want to watch T.V. or talk while someone else is sleeping. We love the breakfast especially the omlette station. High School boys traveling w/their hockey team look forward to such a great breakfast before a game. We parents love it too, along w/the manager's reception in the evening. The Portland Embassy Suites has a great fireplace lobby area to relax and socialize. The fitness room/gym is also a bonus to get a squesez in a quick work out. We have had dinner there also and it was fabulous. The pizza is great if you like thin crust and the chef told us it was from a local maine company. They also offer a variety of steak and seafood that has been wonderful. Thank you and look forward to staying in Portland again.

No issues with stay, the complimentary breakfast and happy hour were a terrific bonus for our family of five. Having suites allowed us to avoid having to get two rooms. It's very convenient for flying out of Portland and only a short drive to the city.

My job as a charter pilot gets me into airports at all hours of the day, this day was no different. Arrived in Portland at 1:00 am with no reservation, called the Embassy Suites and was told come on over we have one room left. 1/4 mile easy walk and met with a smile and two bottles of water. The room was quiet, clean and very comfortable, microwave and fridge, shower had great pressure, The breakfast was top notch.
Can't wait for the next trip to Portland.
