“Wonderful Family Experience”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Traveling with 3 grown sons can be a challenge when it comes to lodging. We want to spend time together but also want to have enough space for 5 adults. Our suite gave us both. Being on a budget, I thought the rate was high for us but the extras made it worth the extra bucks. The evening reception of drinks and snacks gave us a chance to unwind after checking in. The morning breakfast was fabulous with hot dishes and omelets made to order and the best we've experienced in all our family travels. We thought it may be noisy being so close to the airport but it was so quiet and we enjoyed watching a few planes take off and land. The pool and spa were clean and open till midnight giving us night owls a chance to swim after dinner. All in all, a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it for any business or leisure travelers.

We had a very nice stay here over a short 3 day vacation. The room was clean and cozy. I was very pleasantly surprised that we did not hear any airport noise. The breakfast was good and i appreciated the calorie and fat information on the bagels. Seating was a bit tight as it was a very busy weekend. Would stay here again.

Our vacation in Maine was winding down with three days spent at the Embassy Suites at the Portland Airport. Our room was on the sixth floor facing the airport side. That said it was a little noisy until after 10:00 PM when the last planes arrived and again a little noise at 6:00 AM when the first planes were taking off during these hours. The morning breakfast was very nice with plenty of tables.

Access to the location from downtown and other areas was excellent and we had a great stay. It only took less than 30 minutes to return the rental car and clear airport security during our mid-day return flight.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street side.

I have stayed in this hotel almost monthly for several years. The front desk and shuttle drivers are helpful and friendly, but above all efficient. Unlike many airport hotels around the country, this hotel understands its primary purpose. My favorite touch is a continental breakfast with fruit, muffins and coffee. This is served starting at 4:00AM. As most morning flights out of Portland leave between 6-7:00 AM, this is wonderful. Every other airport I hotel at which I have stayed around the country does not accommodate guests with super early flights. You are told that breakfast is available 6-6:30. If you have to leave at 5-5:30, well, too bad.
As a Hilton Diamond member for almost a decade, I have to say this is a great hotel for its purpose. Could it be updated? Absolutely. Does it tick off all the other boxes for an airport hotel? Absolutely.

Still staying here, not checking out until Saturday but I couldn't resist starting this review. NO airport noise. Really pet friendly. I mean....really pet friendly. It is really close to the airport ( 10 min walk if u want, but shuttle is avail) First of all, Sam at the front desk was awesome! We got to the hotel super early, and she made sure that housekeeping cleaned our room right away so that we could check in early. She also took the time pull out a map and label places that she reccomended and she spent a few min answering questions. We are in a 2 bedroom suite, it's huge! Cocktails and apps in the lobby are nice. Cheese, crackers, veggies, and small snack foods. Cocktails are awesome. Chris the bartender was soooo helpful. We asked him for recommendations, and he pulled out a typed list of his favorites! He gave us a copy and it hasn't steered us wrong yet. Highly reccomended this place. Service so far has been great.

Nine old high school girl friends were gathering for a memorial service for the 10th member of our group. Six decided to stay on Chebeague Island and three of us decided to stay at this hotel. I looked on line and found this 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite that fit our needs perfectly . We were on the 4th floor facing the airport. As you entered the suite, there was a small foyer area with a two Q bed room on the right and a large K bedroom on the left. Each had its own bathroom with tub shower and commode and a separate sink/counter area. Each room had a flat screen TV, plenty of dresser and closet space, clock radio and phone. The beds were very comfortable. The common living area had a large wrap style couch, with cocktail table, a large flat screen TV, a large square conference table that we used 2 out of the 3 nights we were there for in room dining. There was a small desk and chair for your laptop, etc. There was a bar area with sink, a small refrigerator, ice bucket , glasses, and mirror. We ordered room service 2 nights and were very comfortable sitting at the conference table over looking the airport and beautiful sunsets. We had a little problem with housekeeping. The day after we arrived, they only made the beds. We had left a couple of towels to be replaced and the rest we hung up for reuse. They left all of the towels in place. They didn't empty the trash from any of the baskets and they left all dirty glasses in place. I went down to the front desk and the staff were very apologetic. They offered us our evening meal but I told them that that was not necessary and that we just needed a few towels and some clean glasses for the night. A few minutes later, the evening manager (I think it was Tim ) arrived with clean towels and glasses and offered his apologies again. The next day we were out for most of the day and returned to find the beds made, the few towels we wanted replaced, replaced, but they didn't remove or replace the wine glasses and other dirty glasses from the night before. We were now accumulating quite a collection of dirty glasses. The front desk called to see how housekeeping had done this time and we politely told them about the glasses. They offered us dessert with our room service meal and we once again declined but they offered us each a glass of red wine with our meal. We thought that was a nice gesture and we accepted this offer. The point here is, if something is wrong with the service you receive, you need to let the front desk know in a polite manner. This staff went above and beyond to make things right with us. We were not looking for compensation, we just wanted to make them aware that things needed some review with the housekeeping staff. Each evening between 5 and 7:30pm they had the Manager's Reception. This was a very nice perk. They served complimentary drinks (hard and soft) at the bar and had a spread of cheeses, crackers, fruit, veggies & dips, chips & dips. We sat on a comfy couch and enjoyed our conversation until heading back to our room for dinner. Each morning they had a hot & cold buffet style breakfast. Items were extensive which included hot eggs, bacon & sausage, french toast, pancakes, hot fresh oatmeal (not from dry packets), fresh fruit, yogurts, breads, bagels, a variety of cold cereals, juices, and delicious hot coffee which was always available for the 3 mornings we were there. There was a fresh, made-to-order Omelet station, with a very nice staff member keeping up with the long lines of people placing their orders on a custom slip of paper with all of the options available. The omelets were delicious and one of the most popular areas of the breakfast bar. There were very friendly staff members attending to the various tables, making sure dirty dishes were removed, and moving chairs around to accommodate everyone. We were very impressed with this whole experience. We were a little concerned that this hotel was away from the downtown area but even though we had a car, we ordered a cab to take us downtown for one day. It was a quick ride, and we didn't have to think about finding a parking space,or driving back after enjoying several drinks and dinner after a ride on a schooner. The location is quiet and easily found. We can honestly say that we were very pleased with this hotel choice and we would stay here again next time we are in the Portland area. As a side, please read my review about their onsite Restaurant, the Cafe Stroudwater. We ordered room service 2 out of the 3 nights we were there. Great experience!

Room Tip: Suites are large and comfortable. Room 414 views of airport and sunsets were beautiful.

Dear suedallas,

Thank you for taking the time to post your detailed review on Tripadvisor. My apologies again for the issues you encountered, but I am pleased that we were able to resolve them in a satisfactory way. Oftentimes, the only way we find out about issues is through the candid feedback of our guests, so thank you for bringing your experience to my attention. I was able to follow-up with our housekeeping department, to ensure more complete service for our future guests. I was not aware of the reason for your visit, so let me offer you my condolences. I am glad to hear the room was suitable for your unhappy reunion, because I'm sure it was an emotional time for all of you. We hope you'll pay us another visit under happier circumstances.

Kindest Regards,
